Chapter Thinking About Her
Alexander Arlan Ainsley POV
"Thank you, Garry. I am not buying anytime soon, because I need to be able to get into the enemy's gap. When I get there, I will do the calculations, then contact you."
I did not want to bother Garry for too long, especially since he was not my employee. He also had a job, so I had to leave the headquarters as soon as the business was done. Garry nodded as if he understood what I meant. "Sure, Mr. Ainsley. If you need any assistance or may have any further questions regarding the supermini CCTV, you can contact me."
I could see Garry's sincerity. He did not seem to mind when he found out that I had not bought any of his team's products and instead offered to help with consultations. He was really dedicated to his work! "Thank you. I-"
The phone's sound cut me off, especially since it came from my pants pocket. I raised my right palm towards Garry, which meant asking him to wait. Afterward, I took my phone out of my pocket and saw Louis's name on the screen. Were there any updates on Arletta? I hoped so. I could not wait to find out what happened to my girl.
Me: "Hello."
Fuck it if Garry heard my conversation with Louis. I did not overtly mention Arletta's name, so let him guess who the person we mentioned on the phone was. Louis Movena: "Hello, boss. Miss Arletta has left the hospital."
I was relieved when I heard the news, but not too satisfied because I did not see Arletta's face. I missed her and wanted to do anything to make her mine. Me: "Is there a shadow army around you? Watch your surroundings. Do not let your guard down!"
I did not want to let Fiona's men find out about Louis following Arletta. They would kill Louis, and that was very dangerous. It was better to keep a distance so the situation remained safely controlled. At that moment, I did not want to find trouble with The Hidden Dragon because their queen's daughter would be my wife.
Louis Movena: "I am staying at a safe distance, boss. The shadow troops are increasing, and I suspect it has something to do with Miss Arletta who was admitted to the emergency room."
It made sense. It could be that Fiona was afraid of something happening to her daughter, so she tightened the security even more. If Arletta had become my wife and we were living together, I would have cared for her and protected her at any cost.
Me: "Perhaps like that. Did you see anything or anyone suspicious when she came out of there?"
I wanted to know what happened there, especially when Arletta left the hospital. This was why I needed to buy a supermini CCTV and sneak it into Arletta's bag.
Louis Movena: "Nothing unusual, boss. I just saw that Miss Arletta seemed to be carrying something in her hand."
I frowned. What kind of thing was Arletta carrying? Who gave it to my girl?
Me: "What do you mean?"
I needed to get some answers because I would go crazy like this!
Louis Movena: "If I am not mistaken, Miss Arletta was carrying a brown envelope, and then there was a fairly large bag. It probably contained food and drink."
I hoped what Louis said was true. What was in the brown envelope? I wanted to know everything about Arletta, from the smallest details.
Me: "Okay. Just keep following him and you should always be on your guard."
It would have been great to start approaching her, but Arletta was sick. My girl was definitely not going to college and working part-time, so it was even harder to get into her life.
Louis Movena: "Yes, boss. I have sent the report on Mr. Rayner and his family as usual."
I was a little relieved to hear Louis' words. The more and more detailed news about my target, the better the result. I could not just stand by, especially since Arletta still had a boyfriend. That boy would be my rival to get her heart! Me: "Okay. I will check later. Anything else?"
I was still at the base, so it was not safe to open important documents here. I just wanted Arletta's identity to be hidden first so that everything went smoothly without anyone interfering.
Louis Movena: "Nothing yet, boss. Miss Arletta's car is now flanked by five shadow troop cars. I am deliberately keeping my distance because I do not want to be noticed by them."
Fiona did not mess around when it comes to keeping her daughter safe. If Arletta and I were in a serious relationship, would she agree? I did not think so.
Me: "Good. Keep your distance if you have to be separated later because you can't get closer to the car. Do not be forced. Do not sacrifice your safety."
What time was it? I wanted to return to the penthouse as soon as possible and read all the reports from Louis. Who knew, I might get an idea from there to organize a concrete strategy to win Arletta's love. Louis Movena: "Yes, boss."
I ended the call and put the phone in my pants pocket. I turned to Garry. He was arranging the CCTV on the table so he was not looking at me. I did not know if he had listened to the conversation or not, but I did not care. What I had planned must go on no matter what!
"Garry." I called out and he turned around.
"Yes, Mr. Ainsley?" Garry said. He was no longer focusing on the CCTV.
"Thank you for your help. I'll leave first."
Tonight my business was done and I had to return to the penthouse immediately. Garry could also continue his pending work as he answered all my curiosities.
"You are welcome, Mr. Ainsley. Let me walk you to the front door." Garry invited and I palmed his right hand open and directed it towards the elevator. "Thanks." I agreed to her idea.
Garry and I walked together, then out of his room. I saw that most of Garry's men were still there and they were busy with their own work, so they did not notice us passing in front of them, but it did not matter.
We reached the elevator, and Garry pressed the down button. The doors opened by themselves. Garry looked at me and said, "Thank you for visiting us, Mr. Ainsley. Good evening."
"Thanks for your help. Good night." I hoped Garry's work would get done quickly so he did not have to work overtime for too long.
I never thought of becoming a scientist like Garry. It must be a very complicated and confusing job. I got into the elevator, and the doors closed.
Being here reminded me of Arletta. If the power had not gone out, then we would not have kissed. Wait a minute... if I was not mistaken, Letta had two phobias: claustrophobia and Nyctophobia. Maybe my girl went to the hospital to see a psychiatrist because of that? Damn it!
