Chapter 5: Dombard
When Dombard in the body of Lanialis, the arqilunian who was Laylith’s mother, entered Grandavalnall, the capital of the forest elves, was able to convince the king to have mercy on Yashkirran, who continued to present himself as Khemesh Skarzborrush, and thanks to extraordinary luck, nobody recognized the isters.
Lanialis knew Yashkirran and what he looked like, and Dombard knew him, but now Dombard controlled Lanis’s body, and he benefited from this lie. But he did not foresee one thing, somehow several kaushmanashtoonians, including those who knew Yashkirran personally, were here in Grandavalnall’s prison. Mijiran Nemonis was the same ambassador of Kaushmanashtoon who had come to the capital almost twenty-one years ago with an ultimatum message. Mijiran knew Yashkirran very well. And now the king of the forest elves, in turmoil, instead of preparing for war with dragons, decided to carry out several demonstrative executions of the kaushmanashtoonians. Arqilunians had several execution options, but Aelarnal preferred to hang traitors, enemies of the state, and war criminals.
Mijiran was led to the place of execution and Yashkirran, whom Dombard did not let go of himself, saw him, and the ambassador recognize him as well.
“It’s him!” shouted Mijiran, “It’s Yashkirran Vindrick, the king of Kaushmanashtoon!”
Seated on a special throne in the execution square, the elven king jumped up to see in the crowd the isters, that had gathered an unimaginably gigantic army, because if it were not the dragons, then Yashkirran could have caused no less destruction, grief, suffering and death.
The arqilunian king only wanted to order his arrest, as his skilful swift soldiers and officers had already done so. The Dombard in Lanialis’s body was taken aback. The king stared at her angrily.
“Arrest Lanialas Arnwaldskar-KelGalanod,” the king ordered. “And lock each one in different dungeons so that they cannot consult!”
“It will be done, Your Majesty,” said several soldiers and began to carry out the order.
“Rakhom Kus Kadukh,” Dombard casts and flaming spear appeared in his hands, with which he waved off the pressing elves.
The soldiers began to cast spells of three magical orbs, which almost always only knock down a person or creature and leave minor burns, and in rare cases lead to death. And they definitely needed Dombard alive. Some elves also cast spells to summon from the soil of branches to stop the Lanialis.
Dombard in the body of an arqilunian woman jumped and dodged the orbs, sometimes reflecting them with a flaming spear and successfully avoiding the branches that tried to stop him.
The king of the elves rose from the throne, and, throwing off his mantle, revealed himself in a light gold metallic chainmail that brightly reflected the light of day. His turquoise sword played in the rays of the Silenta and he instantly found himself next to Dombard and they began to fight. Dombard quickly parried the blows, striking sparks and flashes at the collision of the sword with a flaming spear. The king lunged after the attack, and the other elves did not allow Lanialis to retreat. Finally, three orbs of the arqilunian soldier hit Dombard, but the king did not have time to react and with his shining turquoise sword slid along Lanis’s neck. Laylith’s mother grabbed her throat, and Dombard left her body. The stunned king and the other elves stared at the scene. Dombard didn’t think long.
“Now you will become my vessel,” he said and possessed the king’s body.
Lanis stopped holding her throat with her hands and fell, her eyes frozen in horror and surprise. The arqilunian soldiers didn’t know what to do. They saw how a certain entity, a ghost in armor with sharp angular stone spikes, emerged from the noble forest elf, and then possessed the body of their king.
“So what, are you going to kill me?” Aelarnal’s voice boomed. “Will you kill your king?”
The elves exchanged glances. At this time, Yashkirran realized that he needed to run. His hands were tied, and he just rushed to the city gates.
“The prisoner is running away,” Dombard said, raising the sword of the elven king, and pointing it in the direction of the rushing isters. The soldiers and townsfolk looked at each other. “Well, your king wanted Yashkirran to be detained, right? It doesn’t matter that I’m in his body. It was your glorious King Aelarnal who gave the order to detain the former king of Kaushmanashtoon.” The ghost smiled. “So are you willing to execute your king’s order, or does it mean nothing to you?”
One of the officers in the rank of el-aversil (captain) of the arqilun army decided to give the order to detain Yashkirran. And the elves quickly carried out the order and brought Yashkirran to the el-aversil.
“Why are you taking the prisoner to your el-aversil, and not to me? I think I’m the king here!” Dombard remarked with a sneer.
The arqilunian soldiers stared at el-aversil, and el-aversil realized that there was no way out, and nodded to them. The elves brought Yashkirran to Dombard and stepped back. The ghost in the body of the elven king came up to Yashkirran.
“You and I had an interesting adventure, dear Yashkirran. I remember how you looked with appetite at Lanis’s body. But she knew who you were, and everything inside her was so boiling that it was hard for me to control her mind. Oh, I’d kill you for that, but I don’t need your death now, your vessel may be useful to me.”
Dombard in Aelarnal’s body walked away from the prisoner and turned to the stunned crowd.
“I understand that for you, dear arqilunians, the news is very unpleasant. If you kill me, then you will kill your king, besides, I can immediately possess one of you, and I can change one body to another endlessly! And you don’t have infinite lives, do you? So behold, mortals, before you is a new old king, and now I will rule Eileenelia!” and Dombard burst out laughing.
