Chapter 27: Lanialis
“Eolarnel, are you even listening to me now?” Lanialis asked irritably, “Why didn’t you bring my daughter?! How dare you leave her alone with this offspring Gael-UlanTarrick? Laeltilat constantly rescued Arlandiel, pulled him out of trouble from early childhood, this young elf is completely unable to protect my daughter!”
Dombard Krachtvensen, the ghost who now controlled Eolarnel’s body, tried to feign regret, but his back ached after falling from the argiphone.
“Yes, this upstart young elf insisted on the need to go with your daughter, and your beautiful Laeltilat almost knocked me down with magical orbs, when I wanted to save her, I even fell from the argiphone, dodging her spells!” Dombard lied truthfully.
Lanialis walked from side to side, she didn’t know what to do.
“Right now everyone’s just doing war preparations, so I think I’ll fly myself. I can attract many of the soldiers, but only you, Eolarnel, were able to find her! So we will fly together to where you last saw her.”
“Umm,” Dombard grimaced in a smile, “well, my argiphone is hurt, I’ll have to fly on yours, el-el.”
“Yes, we will fly out immediately!” snapped Lanialis.
Quickly gathering herself, Lanis left her estate, followed by Dombard nervously twitching. She summoned her argiphone, and a bird flew pretty quickly, landed and extended its wing for two elves to climb on it. When they flew, Dombard waited. He decided that he would do what he must.
Flying over one of the deserts of Kaushmanashtoon, Dombard pushed Lanialis sharply, and she flew with a scream from a great height, but the argiphone screamed and rushed after her, diving, folding its wings.
“Stupid bird!” Dombard said, clinging to the plumage.
Lanialis managed to concentrate and cast a soft fall spell, and when Dombard landed nearby, she was already casting three magical orbs to throw at him, but the argiphone was able to reach its back with its beak, strongly bending its neck, and bit Eolarnel Paelvarant’s body in half. Dombard took on the form of a ghost and rushed towards Lanis. Argiphone screamed and flapped its wings, trying to peck at Dombard, but Dombard was instantly next to Lanis, blurting out, “Now it’s your time to become my vessel!”
