Chapter 15: Tarrick
Pastinar, a huge bearded larmarian, walked first. Six travelers made their way through the forest, where the frostorels were growing. They moved too slowly, which did not suit Tarrick, but they had to remain cautious. Suddenly they heard the sound of a spell, but it was too late. A huge fireball flew into the group, and if Pastinar managed to bounce back, then the blond Renfdir, who was carelessly flirting with Leslie, did not react and was thrown away by the blast. His body was burnt, and the fire could harm Leslie herself, but she managed to cover her face with her hands, and the flame slightly charred her metal bracers, which she dropped instantly. An elderly mage, Henriker Gainroix, has already cast a protective dome and sheltered the larmarians from the second and third fireballs.
“Halt, halt... Come on!” Henriker commanded, holding a protective dome. Taking up combat positions, the larmarians surrounded the mage in a semicircle and kept themselves inside the dome. Together with the dome, the group moved in the direction from where the fireballs were coming from. Suddenly a nimble arqilunian young woman with a long sword flew out of the shadows of the trees, broke through the dome and jumped on Pastinar. A huge larmarian grabbed her in flight, and, taking her by the wrist, broke her arm, the elf dropped her sword, then with the other huge hand hit the girl in the face three times, which crumbled her teeth, and her nose turned into a bloody hole, she almost lost consciousness. He took her sword and stabbed her in the stomach.
“Hey, you should have questioned her first!” suddenly screamed Leslie, “Why would an arqilunian attack her allies?”
“Maybe we are no longer allies,” Tarrick suggested, “maybe while we were sailed on the sea and losing our people, the war between Norvinoria and Eileenelia has begun. And the tonnebeards may have something to do with it.
Leslie go, lifted her cold, but darkened with soot, bracers and walked over to Renfdir ’s body.
“He was a good lad,” Leslie said sadly, looking at the body.
“Nice, but talkative.” Friedribert, a brown-eyed brunette entered the dialogue.
“Yes, it’s true,” Leslie agreed.
Henriker stood beside the corpse of the blond snunorf.
“Frach Ald Thon Drask!” Henriker cast a cleansing fire spell that turned Renfdir ’s partially charred body to ash.
When the mage wanted to perform a similar ritual with the body of the arqilun young woman, Leslie took his hand and said, “Let it rot.”
Tarrick picked up the Renfdir ’s sword and the arqilunian long blade and silently moved into the forest first, the others followed him.
