Chapter 28
(cameron)
After I got settled back to Moonstone, I make sure to double our patrols and have them patrolling a much wider area thar they usually would, as Jackson requested.
sunday morning, I decided not to wait until Jackson and Lucas came back. I assembled all of our warriors and immediate sent them out in groups to go comb the woods searching as far as we could that day.
I had to do something and couldn't just sit around. Even though I didn't think there was much hope, part of me was still held out to the small chance that we would be able to find her in the woods and bring her back today.
We're running in wolf form for hours, I'm with Bryce, my second in command, Jenn one of our lead warriors and Jackson's ex, and a few of our top trackers. Jenn wasn't my favorite person but I couldnt deny that she knew how to fight, and she was a huge asset to our team.
All of a sudden we see someone running in the distance, slightly limping, probably a rogue. I sniff the air, there was. definitely a faint trace of rogue in the ai, their putrid scent is impossible to miss. I let out a growl.
Rogues - Jenn mindlinks us
I command the rest of our team to stay in their wolf forms and Jenn, Bryce and I shift back. The rogue that was running w in human form and I wanted to be able to communicate with him.
I quickly pull on some shorts from a backpack I was carrying, Jenn already had a large shirt on and takes off ahead of me, “Got her!” Jenn yells from not too far away. Her? That's strange, most of the rogues we've ever encountered were males. A: much as I wanted to find Isla, tracking down a rogue, and being able to capture one, made this day not a waste at all. At least we accomplished one thing in the Alpha's short absence.
I catch up with her and she’s standing over a girl that is now unconscious. I look at Jenn and she just shrugs, “It looks like she fell, she was like that when I got here. Promise.” She puts her hands up.
I turn the girl over, I couldn't see her face as it was caked in dirt and blood but under the scent of blood was a faint scent that I recognized. She wasn't a rogue at all. Holy crap is this our Luna?
“Jenn, take her to the packhouse immediately. Bryce, take your team to go hunt down the rogues” I waste no time. Everyone assembles and I see Jenn throwing Isla over her shoulders and running towards the packhouse. “Be careful witt her, damnit, Jenn," I shout behind her.
I pull my phone from my backpack and dial Jackson's number Immediately.
“We found her.”
After the conversation I meet up with Bryce's team to finish disposing of the rogues, we kept one alive to question that seemed to be leading the others. At least we can get some answers from him, I'm curious to see if the rogue sightings are something more than just a coincidence, and now we have the chance to find out.
“Bryce, take him to the holding cells beneath the packhouse.” He nods. I would deal with him later. The Luna was more important.
I head back to the packhouse and reach it seconds before Jackson's car pulls up. He gets out of it before it even comes to stop and I run alongside him,
“Where is she?” He demands his eyes wild, I've never seen him like this.
“Jenn took her to the hospital.
(Jackson)
I run inside the packhouse and thankfully run into the person I was looking for, Jennifer.
“Jennifer, which room is she in, is she okay?”
“I put her into the first one, she's probably fine, still alive if you want to talk to her”
“What do you mean you put her in the first one? Where were the nurses, the doctor?” I ask panic rising.
“she’s not in the hospital. I put the filthy rogue in the cells” Jennifer retorts, disgust plastered across her face.
“WHAT? I roar so loud shaking the windows. Jennifer cowers and even Cam flinches. I push her aside and run out the back of the packhouse to where our holding cells, our “dungeon” as my dad so affectionately calls it.
The guards step down and throws me the keys, not knowing whats going on.
I run down the stairs almost tripping over my feet a few times and I hear Cam running behind me.
“There better be an explanation for this," I growl at him
“I told Jenn to take her to the packhouse, she obviously didn't understand.” Cam pleads, but I know he feels guilty about this, worty and fear are plastered over his face. Always visit FindNovel.net for more novels and updates.
“Obviously not. Leave me.” I growl again, I'm too angry to sympathize, “Go alert the doctor, get her a room ready. NOW." I shout.
I stop by the first cell and I'm enveloped by the most amazing scent, her scent. Sweet, warm, comforting. The cinnamon a vanilla scent is mixed with blood and dirt, and that makes my wolf angry, but she's here.
Mate Flint howls in my head doing a happy dance.
I fight the urge to smile, as this is still such a scary situation. I don't know what state I'll find her in. I fumble with the key: taking deep breaths to steady myself. My mate is on the other side I just need to get the key in.
I finally get it open, the door clicks and opens in on itself. I take a few steps in and look down at my mate.
Although her face is caked in blood, dirt, and trails of what I'm assuming is sweat and/or tears, she is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
I run my hand lightly along her cheek and she lets out a soft sigh. Her steady heartbeat gives me hope, I'm not too late, I found her.
I pick her up as gently as I possibly can and rush her to the pack hospital.

Everything hurts, my head is pounding and I fight for a grip on consciousness.
I'm not sure if I want to be conscious though but 'm not sure why.
I feel warmth spread across my cheek, the only thing that doesn't hurt right now.
suddenly the smell of fresh rain and cloves overpowers the faint smell of blood and sweat.
I feel like I'm being swayed back and forth, the scent surrounds me and 1 am warm and comfortable despite the radiating pain.
I unwillingly slip back into unconsciousness.
