A Secret Alpha Mate

I wake up to scratching on my door, my eyes are heavy and I feel disoriented until the events from the previous night floc my mind.

My mate.

I have a mate.

My mate is missing.

She's somewhere alone in the woods.

I jump out of bed and check the clock seeing I've only slept for a few hours. The scratching comes back on my door, it sounds like someone is trying to use a key to get in. I realized that I dead-bolted the door so a key wouldn't have done anything anyway. If Cam or Lucas needed me they could mindlink me anyways.

“Cam? Lucas?" I pull the door wide open hoping they were fully awake and ready to strategize to find my mate, to find Islz today.

“Hello, mate" The girl from last night that smelled like Isla is standing before me licking her lips and looking me over. I realized I wasn't wearing a shirt.

“Ym sorry, I think there has been some confusion.”

“Yes, there has been.” She brushes past me into my room and turns back to me dropping the robe I only just noticed she was wearing. She's standing before me in some black lingerie that is drooping off her body. I wince. “Where did you disappear to last night? I tried to come up but you weren't here and I was tired of waiting” She pouts

“I-1 uh"

“Jax, just letting you know I'm heading out -” Cam comes barreling into my room and stops when he sees this girl half- naked in front of me. He coughs to clear his throat.

“You really need to train them better” The girl says sounding annoyed, “They should know to knock before entering our bedroom.” Our bedroom. What.

“I'm sorry, what is your name again?" Cam asks the question I've been thinking. I couldn't remember if she told me last night but I was so preoccupied I wouldn't have even remembered if she had.

“Hailey. You can just call me Luna though.” She wrinkles her nose up at him, “You're a Beta, right?”

“Gamma, actually, and head trainer and warrior,” Cam replies proudly

“Oh, that's um.” Hailey pauses and waves her hand dismissively, “Nice."

cam and I exchange a look. Just then Lucas comes in through the open door. He notices Hailey immediately and turns to me with a confused look on his face.

“I hope I'm not interrupting” He says.

“You're not.” I say

“You are.” Hailey says at the same time and then rolls her eyes, “You both really will need to learn to knock. I expect basic manners from you both going forward, have some respect for me.”

“Ah yes, you are Alpha Benjamins, daughter.” Lucas goes on, “I didn’t know you would be in here or I would have knocked. “No, Well, I mean yes, I am the Alpha's daughter. But I'm speaking to you as your future Luna, or maybe I already am your Luna, I just need to have the ceremony to make it official” She looks down lost in thought, “Either way, you will respect mine and his privacy from this moment on. Now off you go.” She waves her hands at them and Lucas looks at her with his eyebrow raised, he looks like he's fighting back a smile.

“Hailey, I'm sorry there seems to have been a huge misunderstanding.” I turn to her, “Why is it that you think I'm your mate?”

She looks confused and pauses for a second before meeting my gaze, “Well you're hot, and when we looked into each ott eyes I got really horny” I internally flinch. Gross. “And then you smelled me and even before then I knew that you had to I my mate because you're like the hottest guy here. There was that instant connection”

“Hm interesting.” I'm not really sure how to respond, “I'm so sorry, I do think that there was a miscommunication. I found my mate last night, yes.” She beams and takes a few steps toward me, “But,” I hold my hands up in front of me to stop her from getting too close, “It wasn't you, it was someone else from this pack.”

“Well then, who the f**k is it? It doesn't look like she’s here and I am.”

“That is true, I haven't been able to actually locate her yet”

“50, she could be me?”

“I don't think that ii exactly how it works. I do wish you the best and I'm sure your destined mate is a very lucky man” 1 t to appease her but she looks angry. She storms past me

“This isn't over, I don't know why you're saying I'm not your mate but I know it isn't true. Whoever your mate is here isn't Alpha's daughter, I literally outrank every single unmated woman here. There is no one better for an Alpha than me, you'l see it She turns around and stomps past Cam and Lucas, Lucas gives her a little wave before she slams the door behind her.

“Well then, shall I go after our Luna?” Lucas asks.

“Which one?” Cam says, we all three burst out laughing.

“It's not funny, I'm glad you guys showed up because that was getting more awkward by the minute." I shake my head, “Bt yes please, go round up the troops so to speak at Moonstone, let my dad know what's going on, bring back a group but remember the rogue attacks, I don’t want to leave our land without proper defense.” Cam nods

“/'ll be back in a few hours, I took a few of her clothes for the warriors to get her scent, she honestly didn't have many belongings though, but it should be enough.”

“Lucas?”

“I've already called the other packs in the area, they know to be on the lookout for her, but it would be better if we had a description!” realize that I had no idea what my mate looked like.

“Get it from that omega, Abigail, and give them a call back. Meet me out back in, let's say, thirty minutes. We can try to pic up her scent again now that the rain has cleared” Lucas nods and heads out to find Abigail.

I sigh and head to the bathroom to take a quick shower, even though my mind was awake my body wasn’t and I hoped a cold shower would do the trick.
