A Secret Alpha Mate

(Jackson) As much as I wanted to take the rest of the day off I had to catch up on what I missed here. My dad filled me in on the way over of what happened while we were gone, and thankfully, nothing exciting happened. I still wanted to make sure everything was on the right track, and we had our induction ceremony to plan, as well as plan f the elders arrival in the morning. They weren't planning on staying, just to pick up Valoria, but we still had to plan for a lunch for them. I would be glad to rid of her, we had to further use for the witch, she told us what we needed to know and we figured out the rest. The Elders promised to fill us in if they got anything else out of her, but it was to my knowledge that they were going to le her rot in prison. We had enough proof of her wrongdoings. since we found out, the Elder's also wanted to check to see how much Julianna and Hailey knew. They were handling that as well. I couldn't take any more on my plate. I felt like I was constantly trying to catch up. 1 was struggling to stay on top my companies work as dealing within the pack have consumed me. I was determined to use this week to catch up and delegate as much as Isla could handle. Silver Moon was being dealt wi and 1 tried to push it to the back of my mind. I knew that they would get in touch if there were any problems, so I tried as hard as I could not to worry about it. Sorry guys, I know we just got back but could you meet me in my office. Sure thing On the way, boss man I left Isla to get settled in our room, she was going to meet Dawn to discuss the menu for tomorrow and then start planni the induction ceremony with Abigial and my mom before she went back to Silver Moon. We took care of the planning for the memorial before we left, and I knew my mom would fill in the gaps as we couldn't come back until that night. Lucas and Cam show up at the door and make themselves comfortable. “Anything new to report?” 1 ask them without looking up. “All good here” Cam says “Nothing on my end, alls quiet, well as quiet as quiet can be for us" Lucas amends “Hmm,” I nod, “I'm going to need some help this week getting on top of company things, I haven't been in the office in a while and I want to make sure everything is good on that front.” I turn towards Lucas, “Would you mind checking in on some of the offices this week?” “ll pull my suits out of closet” Lucas smiles “You were literally just wearing one a few days ago.’ Cam scoffs I ignore them, “Isla is getting everything ready for the Elder's arrival tomorrow, so last on our never-ending list is to talk t Jennifer's man.” “Who?” Lucas looks confused “Thomas, Jennifer's baby daddy. Keep up, man." Cam says. “So many people, so many names. I'm not sure how you remember them all” “It's my job,” Cam taps his temple, “Yours too.” Lucas rolls his eyes. “I just want to figure out his motives, what his part was in this and hopefully send him on his miserable way, let his pack deal with the consequences.” “Yes, Alpha." “Let's go.’ Lucas stands up stretching. “Have your men bring him into one of the interrogation rooms, I don't want Jennifer hearing this.” Cam nods and his eyes cloud over. “All good.” We make our way down to one of the rooms, following Cam. From the short interaction I had with him I was sure he woul tell us everything without much convincing. It wasn't our intention, but he has been sitting in a cell for almost three week cam brings us to one of the rooms and they sit on either side of me. Cam had the interrogation room dark with one light overhead. I lean back and wait, patiently. Playing the cool Alpha always seemed to work during these interrogations. “Can I be the bad cop this time?” Lucas looks excited. Cam gives him an icy look ending that discussion. Lucas sits back a crosses his arms and pouts. “I don't need my Beta pouting like a child before were interrogating someone that had a hand in me almost losing my mate.” I give him a pointed look. “Yes, Alpha." He sits up with his back straight and plasters on a smile, “Good cop at your service." I groan, I never told them to do this good cop, bad cop thing. It just started playing out like that when we couldn't get people to talk. I honestly don't think it's an act and it's just their personalities. But when Lucas is in action on the battle field, he has a one track mind and he is lethal, interrogations were something completely different and this is where Cam shined. A sharp knock comes as the door and Thomas lead in forced to sit in the steel chair across from us. He looks rough, like f hasn't slept well in days. He probably hasn't. No one says anything, waiting for me to be the first to speak. I draw out the silence, leaning forward in my seat he starts shaking. I give him a smile, placing my fingers on my chin. “So. We can do this the easy way or the much harder way. The harder way will be more painful for you.” He audibly gulps across the table, “We just want to know a few things, that's all. The better your answers are, the safer you will be" I take 2 moment, “And Jennifer, and your baby will be." “P-p-please don't do it, don't hurt them. I'll tell you everything.’ Lucas gives me a glance, I believed him. “start talking” I lean back. He looks between the three of us frantically, “Uh- okay, so. I found out Jenn was my mate a few years ago when she was visiting her family that lives at my pack. We had some fun, uh you know, and then she rejected me before she left” He loo down not able to meet my eyes, “She told me she was in a relationship. B-but I swear, Alpha.” His eyes go wide when they meet mine, “I didn’t know until after, I never would have, you have to believe me, if I would have known.” I put my hand u and he immediately stops talking. “Then what? That was years ago, bring us up to the present date.’ “Uh-yes okay, yes." He trips over his words, “She came back down, uh, I'm not exactly sure now. How long was I even dow there? I mean a few months ago, two and a half, maybe three.” “Cut to the chase.” My Alpha aurora fills the room and he backs up so far he almost falls out his chair. “Y-yes Alpha.’ His face sheet white, “She came back and said she wanted me, and you know, we had s* like the entire we or 50 she was there. She told me that she was going to become Luna of the pack and that broke me. But then she told me that she wanted me by her side but I couldn't do that. I wasn't going to be her hidden secret while she was Luna of a pack. I knew if you found out you would kill me.” He avoids my gaze, but I don't move a muscle, just wa for him to go on. “She called me and told me she was pregnant.’ He looks at his hands, “She said that she didn't want to lose her position and that if-if er when.” He looks like he was choking on his words not sure what to say. “Spit it out” I say, my voice dark. “When she was Luna, then my, our baby, would be the next Alpha." He looks defeated, not wanting to throw Jennifer unde the bus. cam chuckles lowly, his laugh menacing. Thomas gives him an unsure look and sits back in his chair. “That can't be the entire story." Cam says, his voice sharp, “I think you're forgetting a little thing about a fake paternity te: “Um, okay, so she needed my help to figure out what to do about that, and I know someone. Well found someone, throug a friend that could help us with that problem.” He looks at all of us, “So I wanted to help her, and I did. But obviously you guys found out anyways so," He shrugs, “The end.” “I don't think that's the end. You did all of this for a mate that rejected you?” “I love her" “Ym not buying it” Lucas scoffs, Thomas shoots him a weak glare. “What was in it for you, besides you seeing your omega s***m claiming an Alpha title? You already said you wouldn't wan to be her lover.” Cam looks at him with steely eyes. “It was enough for me’ “You're lying." Cam says, it wasn't a questions. Thomas looks taken aback. “Do you not have a mate?” He looks at Cam shocked, “The mate bond does crazy things." “Jennifer so lovingly broke the mate bond.” Lucas cuts in. “It was still strong." “What else did she promise you?” Cam asks again, “Don't lie this time.” “She- um - she said that I would be able to be the Alpha in the future, once uh, he was gone.” He tilts his head towards m I let out a booming laugh, Lucas and Cam join in. “She really?” Lucas wipes his eyes, “There is no way." “Man, she got you!” Cam says, “How was she supposed to take out, Alpha” his laughing cuts him off, “Jackson.” “Ym sorry but she has been obsessed with Jackson for years. Maybe for his title, maybe for his rocking bod.” Lucas winks me, “But there would be no way she would give up an actual chance with Jackson for you. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.” He shakes his head. “But she, I did so much. I risked so much for her” “She's a power hungry bitch.” Cam says, “Nothing else to it" “Anything else you want to add?” I say. He pauses for a second. “Please don't hurt them. They're good. The baby is, I'm sure of it. I'm sure whatever Jennifer did was out of” He pauses no able to say it, “Love for you.” He spits out. I stand up, “Your Alpha will be notified of what you've done, he will decide your punishment from there.” I walk out of the room, knowing that Cam will have it fully handled. One less thing out our list.
