Chapter 29
"My parents want to come visit soon, but they want to bring Bee first. They said they really miss your parents. Do you think that would be a good idea?" Kat asked once they made it back to their room, exhaustion filling her entire body. Walking to the bed, she took off her accessories and put them on the nightstand, before unfasting her heels' straps.
Zach took off his jacket and tossed it on the couch at the far opposite of the bed before walking to Kat. "They're always welcome at my house and my pack, love. It doesn't matter what I think. And you know how much my parents miss them too."
Kat's eyes widened when Zach kneeled down before where she sat, pushed her hands from the straps of her heels and started taking them off her gently. "But yeah, I think it's a good idea. Besides, it'll give us the perfect opportunity to tell them the truth. I'm sure my parents being there will calm down the wrath of yours a bit."
Kat let out a soft moan the second Zach's fingers massaged her feet. "That feels good."
Zach smirked, before moving his hands even higher, but Kat shot him a look. "What?" He shrugged innocently.
"Don't start with me, Zach." She tried to sound stern but her smile gave her away. "Your back hasn't completely healed yet, and we both know the damaged my claws will do if you get me hot and bothered again."
As if he couldn't hear a word she was saying, Zach moved his hands beneath her skirt and up to massage her soft thighs. "But I love it when you get all hot and bothered for me, baby. Even better when you're soaking wet. Are you wet for me, Kat?"
Oh, damn him. Kat tethered on the little control she had left and shook her head. "Stop."
"Not unless you mean it." Zach stated before suddenly pushing her back on the mattress, and pulling her skirt high enough to see the white lace thong she wore underneath. Groaning deeply at the sight, Zach pulled her hips closer to his face.
"Zach," Kat moaned the second she felt him pull off the thin material that pathetically tried to hide her core from him down her legs.
Zach couldn't move his eyes from her glistering pink folds, and he decided that he had never seen anything more beautiful. "Tell me you're this wet for me, Kat."
"Who else would I be wet for, you idiot?" She hissed, already as frustrated as she feared to be once she found herself at his mercy again.
Zach chuckled at her response before using two fingers to push her folds open. Her heart was beating as loudly as her uneven breaths sounded, but she no longer cared. She needed Zach to touch her, and she needed him to do that now.
"So greedy." Zach commented softly when Kat tried to lift her hips closer to him, before lowering his mouth on her. With one long lick, he had her clit throbbing. "You taste so fucking good. So sweet."
"Dammit, Zach." Kat fisted the sheets again, trying her hardest to keep her hands there and not on his head as it dissapeared between her thighs. The sight of him on his knees before her, his head shoved between her legs, had her squirming.
"Stay still." Zach commanded before sucking her sensitive clit between his lips. He eased a finger inside her wet core, then added another, stretching her enough to hear her moan louder. "You're so fucking tight."
Kat's core clenched around his fingers at his words, feeling too high on pleasure to think rationally. His fingers moved in and out of her in an agonizingly slow rythm while his tongue moved lazily across her clit. "Zach, please."
"Patience, baby." Removing his fingers from inside her, Zach replaced the emptiness with his tongue. His thumb circled her clit slowly before pressing down on it like a button, and Kat almost screamed. She was so responsive, so loud, that Zach could barely hold the urge to sink himself deep inside her heated core.
"Zach, faster." Kat pulled at the sheets, not giving a damn if she torn the whole thing to shreds, when Zach replaced his tongue with his sinful fingers again, pumping them in and out of her with ease.
"You're so damn beautiful." Zach couldn't remove his eyes from Kat's flushed face. She had a cute little frown between her brows, her eyes slammed shut, and her bottom lip rolled between her teeth. But when she started shaking, he knew he had to put his mouth back on her.
"I'm close, Zach." Kat whimpered in pain, having the hardest of time trying to contain the explosion she knew was bound to happen, but when Zach shoved his tongue back inside her and flicked her clit she knew her effort was in vain.
"Come on my tongue, baby." As if his words were all the permission she needed, Kat let her body shake and burn with the power of her orgasm, feeling Zach's tongue savour her taste. "Good girl."
She couldn't blush any harder even if she tried as Zach stood back up with glistering lips and a visible tent through his pants. Yet her eyes were glued to his every movement, as he took of his white button up shirt and tossed it to the ground. Moving her gaze, up and down his toned chest, Kat felt his fingers itching to unfasten his belt and see even more of him. She pushed herself up on unsteady legs then got down on her knees in front of him, just like he had for her.
Zach growled as he saw Kat push her hair to the side before working on his belt, her big hazel eyes never leaving his with a wicked promise. "Baby, you don't have to."
Kat only sent him a gorgeous smirk before pushing his pants down to his ankles. Hooking her fingers in the waistband of his boxer breifs, she was ready to pull them off him as well, only his ringtone interrupted them. Zach growled loudly as his eyes snapped to the nightstand to see Nick's name shining bright on the small screen, and he shook his head. "It'll go to voicemail."
Kat giggled at the pleading tone in Zach's voice before she held him through his boxers, earning herself a loud groan of pleasure. Feeling how huge he was beneath her fingers, Kat swallowed the water in mouth.
Zach's eyes snapped open as his phone rang again and he muttered another curse. "He'll fuck off." He promised again but Kat huffed in annoyance.
Glaring at the small screen, Kat reached for Zach's phone and picked up the call. "What, Nick? It's the middle of the night."
Zach almost whined in pain as he pulled his pants back up and threw himself on the bed in annoynace, covering his face with an arm.
"Luna Katie. I'm glad to hear you're alright." Came Nick's breathless reply.
Kat frowned as he got up from the floor. "Of course I'm alright. Why wouldn't I be? And don't call me that. I've always been Katie to you."
Zach snarled at the sweet tone she used with his beta, sat up right, and glared at her. Kat rolled her eyes at him.
"Sure. Can you hand Zach the phone? It's urgent." Nick's tone was unusually empty of humor and too serious that Kat's frown deepened.
"What?" Zach barked into the phone, his glare still directed at Kat.
"What I'm about to tell you is probably gonna make you flip. But it's a good thing Katie is there to calm you down." Nick dreaded the information he was about to share with his Alpha but he had no other choice. "I need you to listen and know that I'm sorry, okay? I only waited this long because I wasn't sure, but I know I shouldn't have."
Kat and Zach shared a disturbed look. "What the fuck is going on, Nick?"
"She's in danger." Zach's heart came to a stop inside his chest, his eyes never leaving the precious woman he couldn't bear the thought of losing. "It was no random attack the other day. The rogues know who she is and they wanna kill her before she officially becomes Lune. I don't know how but Thomas knew about her and he had sent them confirmation and a damn picture of her, Zach. That's why they wanted her dead the other day, and not Ella. Sure, she was there by coincidence but I'm sure now that it was Thomas's plan all along, to get her killed before you two mated."
Kat's face paled as she heard every word the beta had just informed them and her heart ached inside her chest. Thomas was a good person. He had always been kind to her. She had defended him over and over when Ella doubted him, but he was in reality planning for her murder.
"You have to get back home. A group of fighters and I are gonna meet you halfway." Nick bit out word after another, their venom bitter on his tongue. "Now that you declared her your mate to the whole world they would try harder and faster to get rid of her before it's too late."
Zach let out a roar loud enough to shake the walls that surrounded them and Kat flinched at the sound. The feeling of betrayel had hit him once more as strong as the last time. "How long have you known?"
"I had my doubts but I wasn't sure, Zach. I didn't want to worry you before I had proof and I have been searching Thomas's office for the past couple of days. I just found the letters he had sent to the rogues hidden beneath the wooden floor, with Kat's picture and everything else to make sure of his plans. I'm sorry. I made a fucking mistake not telling you earlier, but I'm telling you now to pack your stuff and meet us halfway. We'll keep her safe." Nick's voiced was laced with regret as he explained himself.
"We're leaving now." Is all Zach said before he hung up and turned to Kat. Without a single word, Zach pulled her to his lap and shoved his face into the crook of her neck, breathing rapidly.
Kat noticed how Zach was shaking with anger, as clearly as she felt it in her very soul. The need to protect her and keep her safe was too strong for him to handle on his own, and she understood that he needed assurance. "I'll be okay."
Zach filled his lungs with her sweet scent, trying to promise himself that she was right there between his arms, safe and sound. But the idea of someone out there waiting for the right time to hurt his mate was too powerful for him to ignore. "I'll kill them. I'll kill every last one of them."
"Please, calm down." Kat rubbed his back soothingly and her eyes filled with tears at the rush of emotions he was unknowingly sending her way. "I'm right here, and I'm safe."
"No one is going to touch you." His hold on her tightened so much that she was afraid she might break her. "I'll kill everyone who tries to harm you."
"Look at me." Kat tried to pull his face out of her neck and catch her eyes but he held on harder, shoved his face further into her neck, and let out a threatening growl in protest. "Hey!"
Zach blinked at the sudden authority in Kat's voice and looked up at her, like a little boy who's frightened of losing his only source of happiness.
Kat's eyes softened at the fear his irises swam with, and she moved both hands to his cheeks. "I'll be okay. We'll figure this out, Zach. We'll figure everything out."
"I can't lose you." His voice was a mere broken whisper and her heart broke at the sound of it. His wolf was whimpering in pain inside his head at the thought alone. "I can't."
"You won't." She sealed her promise with a soft kiss. "No one is taking me away from you, I promised you that. You'll always protect me, remember?"
Reciting their promises calmed down Zach's fear and fury a little. She was right. He promised to always protect and save her, even if he'd die doing so and he knew he would never break that promise. "Let's go home."

"It will only take a minute." Kat insisted once they stepped out of their room, their luggage in his hands.
"Okay, but we have to hurry." Zach nodded and they made their way to the room at the end of the hall that had the name GoldenCresent written elegantly on its door.
Knocking twice, Kat waited eagerly for her friends to open up.
Ryan pulled the door open, rubbing his sleepy eyes only to frown at Zach and Katie. "You guys leaving?"
"Who is it?" Care asked from behind her mate before squeezing herself between him and the door. Kat couldn't help the giggle that escaped her at the matching Pyjamas they chose to wear. They were just adorable. "Don't tell me you're leaving! But we had a couple of hours tomorrow to spend together."
Kat smiled at her pouting friend. "We can't stay. It's not safe anymore."
Ryan frowned, his arm instinctively wrapping around his mate's waist. "What do you mean it's not safe?"
"My beta has informed me that the rogues are planning on killing Kat before we officially mate, to weaken my pack. We have to go back to my territory." Zach answered truthfully.
Ryan's shoulders stiffened and Care gasped. "Then why don't you just mate right now? Go back to your room and mate already!"
That was a good question. "It's more complicated than that." Kat shook her head with a sigh. If only she could tell Care.
Caroline huffed. "It's a bite and sex. It's not complicated at all."
Kat giggled while Zach let out a low groan. "We still have a lot to figure out."
"Is there anything we can do?" Ryan asked sincerely and Zach smiled at him.
"I'll get back to you on that. We just wanted to say goodbye, for now." Zach stretched out his hand for Ryan, who let go of his mate and pulled Zach for a quick bro-hug.
"I'll miss you. We didn't have enough time." Care whined as she wrapped her arms around Kat's shoulders.
"Come visit us soon, okay?" Kat hugged her back.
"Just be safe, Katie." Care pulled back enough to look at Kat's eyes. "I know we haven't known each other for long, but it feels like I've known you for a lifetime. And I hate how fast we've become friends only for me to let you go now knowing that your life is in danger." Pulling her closer, Care whispered, "Just do us both a favor and jump his bones already. You two are so in love with each other, it's ridiculous that you're not mated yet."
Kat blushed at her friend's words, her wide eyes meeting with Zach's briefly to find him smirking at her as if he agreed with Care's suggestion. Clearing her throat, Kat nodded her head.
"We'll see you guys soon." Zach gave Caroline a nod with a smile and Kat waved sweetly at Ryan before they turned on their heels, ready to head home.
"Zach, do you have my phone?" Kat asked as they walked down the spiral staircase that led to the front gate.
"No, baby." He shook his head.
"Shit, I must have left it on the nightstand. Just go put our bags in the trunk and I'll bring it and meet you in the parking lot." Kat demanded before rushing back up the stairs, smiling at Zach who yelled a 'Be careful' her way.
Jogging to her room, Kat opened the door and turned on the lights, her eyes moving across the bed and nightstand in search of her phone. Frowning, when she couldn't find it, Kat made her way over, and removed the pillows.
"But I left it here." Kat mumbled, pulling the small drawrs open to look inside them.
"Looking for this?" A familiar masculine voice spoke from behind her, and Kat instantly felt that wicked shiver she loathed lick down her spine. "Were you really going to leave without saying goodbye, Sweetheart?"
"Peter." Kat spit his name out as he stopped right in front of her, leaving her no space to back away except against the wall behind her.
