Chapter 3677
Noreen trotted downstairs to greet her.
Tension buzzed in the lobby and rumors swirled about Leonel’s failing marriage and another child.
Noreen tried to chat but Alexis kept quiet.
In a hush, she said, “I need to see Leonel, now.
”
Noreen rushed to say, “Mr.
Douglas is waiting.
Please, come this way, Miss Fowler.
”
Alexis grabbed her coat and stepped out, too preoccupied to notice the sky which was extraordinarily blue today.
Her steps echoed through the lobby and everyone eyed her tension without a word.
Noreen guided Alexis to the elevator and they went straight up to the top floor.
In Leonel’s office, Alexis spotted him by the window, his back turned.
“Leonel, what is it going to take for you to…”
The man standing in front of the French window froze.
He turned, freezing at the sight of her.
They’d just met an hour ago but he felt more distant now.
A faint smile crept onto his lips.
“Let’s talk alone.
Give your phone to Noreen.
”
“Leonel!”
“You can go but I’m the only one who can help your father.

Alexis handed her phone to Noreen.
Noreen knew she shouldn’t stick around, so she left quickly, shutting the door behind her.
In the vast office, Alexis felt breathless, her face drained of color.
Waylen’s life hung in the balance.
Despite her loathing for Leonel, she’d swallow her pride to beg.
She couldn’t bear losing her father or seeing her mother suffer.
Understanding Leonel’s terms, Alexis murmured, “I’ll do anything.
”
Leonel fixed his gaze on her.
“Even remarrying me? Being like we were before? Can you really?”
Alexis couldn’t.
But she said she could.
Leonel approached, standing at opposite ends of the desk.
A pair of glasses lay there, something she rarely saw him wear.
He delicately put the glasses over his eyes.
