Chapter 3611
But he didn’t dwell on the consequences, nor did he really care anymore.
Marcus seethed with anger, glaring at Leonel.
“If Alexis hadn’t brought you home that year, would you even have stood here today?”
A bitter smile crossed Leonel’s face.
“I get it.
I owe her everything.
”
Leonel’s love for Alexis had twisted over time.
Maybe it began when she left him for Calvin, or perhaps when she returned home, making him realize Calvin could’ve won her over if he didn’t know her earlier than Calvin.
From then on, jealousy consumed him.
Every move he made had seemed wrong ever since, leading him to this irreversible point.
Marcus’ voice dripped with menace.
“You do owe her, Leonel.
Live with that regret for the rest of your days.
Even if the baby arrives, how will you ever face it?”
The thought stirred Marcus to boiling point.
Melissa happened to be at home too.
Upon her arrival, Waylen’s voice came hoarse.
“Melissa, join Marcus and visit Alexis.
”
Understanding Waylen’s intention, Melissa gently squeezed Marcus‘ shoulder and murmured softly, “Sure.
”
Marcus shrugged off Melissa’s touch, his demeanor harsher than intended.
Sensing Marcus’ agitation, Melissa brushed it off and nodded to Waylen.
Marcus, realizing his rudeness, felt a pang of guilt.
He grasped Melissa’s hand and said, “Let’s go.
”
Their love was palpable, stoking a twinge of jealousy in Leonel.
Waylen gestured calmly for Leonel to enter, closing the door behind them.
There were no scoldings or blows this time, Waylen had made it clear before.
Leonel was no longer his son.
Their ties had been completely severed when Alexis divorced him.
Waylen regarded Leonel with a calm gaze.
“What’s your plan for the baby?”
Leonel and Waylen stared at each other, but neither of them said anything.
Leonel gazed at the man in front of him who had once given him a lot of care and support.
Waylen was once a handsome and strong man, but at this moment, he was deeply worried about his children.
Leonel couldn’t tell him what had happened to Alexis.
He guessed that Waylen already knew anyway.
He just wanted a promise from Leonel, such as declaring that he and the Fowler family would have nothing more to do with each other and he would never bother Alexis again.
But even Leonel knew that such things would not be enough considering the amount of mistakes he had made.
Whenever he thought of Alexis lying in a pool of blood, he couldn’t even imagine forgiving himself.
By now, the study was quiet.
The only sound they could hear was the sound of their breathing.
But after a while, Leonel walked up to Waylen.
He knew fully well that he had no right to beg for the old man’s forgiveness.
Even though he knew that Alexis was the apple of Waylen’s eye, he had tormented her to the point of despair and suicide.
At this point, he felt utterly hopeless.
He knew he had already given up at that moment.
