A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 26

Chapter 26

Sage had no intention of engaging in endless small talk with a stranger. “I wonder what type of cooperation you expect when you said that you would like to form a partnership with me?” she said, cutting straight to the chase.

“I'm interested in that piece of land in the northern Suburbs of Salem City,” said Yoel, who also kept it short and simple. He did not beat around the bush.

"Oh, really?”

Sage studied Yoel who was dressed in a V-shaped collared suit, and who looked at her with an air of playfulness. She had a feeling that Yoel was here to impress her, rather than to discuss work.

With nothing to hide, Yoel sat still, allowing Sage to study him, and he even flirted with her a little. “So, what do you think? I look quite handsome in this suit, don't 1?"

The words flowed out of him so easily that he sounded quite narcissistic.

Sage was not the type to lie, so she replied honestly, “Not bad.”

“The main point here is the person who chose the shirt has good taste,” he said. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Sage noted that the man in front of her, without a doubt, had a silver tongue.

Clearing her throat softly, Sage added, “In retum for your compliments, let me tell you something. The piece of land in the northem suburbs is owned by my uncles and I. But I have no intention of tuming it into a golf course.”

“Well of course. Whether it's the landscape or the condition of the soil, that piece of land is not suitable as a golf course. It's more suited as a racecourse.

“So, you will have to agree that we are both on the same page, wouldn't you agree?” said Yoel with a shrug of his shoulders.

At the mention of a racecourse, Sage's face softened and she looked somewhat interested. “What do I get in return for partnering with you?”

Upon hearing this question, Yoel was confident about securing the partnership with Sage.

He smiled and said, “The Fultons tend to be aggressive and stubbom, and we usually split the profits 80 to 20. However, as I plan on pursuing you, I'm willing to make a sacrifice and go 50 — 50. What say you?”

“I say that you, Mister Fulton, have a sense of humor. This meal is on me. Please, enjoy your dinner,” scoffed Sage.

Sage got up from her seat and was about to leave.

Her attitude had taken a sudden tum.

Yoel was slightly taken aback by the quick change in her attitude. By the time he came back to his senses, Sage was already at the door and was about to leave the room. Yoel ran toward the door and stood in front of Sage, blocking her way.

“Miss Norah, I am not joking. I am hundred percent serious about this partnership.”

Sage looked up and stared at him coldly. After spending three years with Jace, Sage had thought her patience for trivial matters had improved.

“Firstly, I have always separated my work and personal life, and I dispose of people who use work as an excuse to get girls. Did you really think yourself a charmer?

"Secondly, yes, I agree that the Fultons are aggressive, but this is not Riverside City. This is Salem City. You don't get to get what you want just because you're one of the Fultons.

“Thirdly, you're the one who is asking to partner with us, and you expect to get 50% of the profits? Are you even hearing yourself? I don't even want to give you 30% of the profits!”

Yoel nodded his head in agreement after he heard Sage’s explanation. “Only three? Where is the fourth?” he asked once she was done.

Sage rolled her eyes. She thought him to be a shameless man.

“Fourthly,” added Sage as she took a step toward Yoel, “I want to know if you even have a conscience? You are stealing your friend's lover.”

“But aren't you and Jace already divorced?” Yoel blurted out without any hesitation.

Sage, who was enraged by his comment, stepped on Yoel's foot with her high heels.

Staring at Sage who was walking out the door, he decided to bite the bullet and added, “Jace is getting married tomorrow. Will you b e there? Let's go together.”

This was his first time experiencing the power of high heels, but for some reason, he felt rather pleased.

“Ouch!” Yoel cried out in pain.
