Chapter CHAPTER 145
Chapter 145
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 15
Rowan's POV
After I left the breakfast hall, I went to check up on some of our old and new warriors training. As i got closer, I saw Gideon and Harriette. Gideon had his arm across her shoulder.
That pissed me off for an unknown reason. I gritted my teeth and barged through the mindlink connection to have access to Gideon.
"Get your hands off her or I'll break every twenty seven bones in your hand," I threatened, almost growling at him.
Gideon removed his hand immediately and moved away from home. He knew better than to piss me off. When I get angry, it gets bloody.
Just as I was trying to suppress my anger, I walked towards them to hear Harriette talking about the Werewolf King.
"How did you know that?" I asked Harriette. Her eyes went wide before I saw her face become flushed. She quickly looked away from me and bit down on her lips from regret.
I always knew something was strange about her. Every time I tried to let it go, she always came back to prove that she was a strange girl from a strange town.
As for her story that was documented in the pack's log, I've sent people out to confirm if the pack existed and if she had existed as well. It wasn't a necessary move but with the strange and recent happenings, I had to do it for the sake of my sanity.
"I asked you a question," I fisted my palm aggressively. Yet again, I didn't get an answer to my question.
The only person who knew who the guest would be was me. I was the only one who knew my father, the werewolf king would be visiting my Rogue pack in two or three days. I'd only informed my men and close subordinates that someone was coming but I didn't tell them who it would be.
The only way Harriette would know is if she was there the night the King called me.
I'd just finished a run that night when my phone began ringing. I'd been avoiding his calls but for heaven's sake, he didn't stop calling. "What?" I yelled into the phone.
"That is not a good way to respond to your father not to talk of the werewolf king," he spat.
Father? Was he ever my father? Was there a time he played the role of a father?
"What do you want?" I asked again.
"I've been trying to reach out to you, son, but you never picked up my calls,"
The same way I tried reaching out to you as a child and you ignored me. No, scratch that, he thought I was a liar and I needed attention.
"Maybe that was enough to let you know that I don't want to hear from you ever again," I snapped.
"Rowan Greene. Can we have a civil conversation for once?" He asked.
I clicked my tongue. "I'll ask again even though I hate asking the same question repeatedly. What do you want from me?"
There was a second of silence. "We need to talk,"
"I don't want to discuss anything with you. When you had the chance to talk to me, you didn't and now, I have nothing to say to you,"
"Do you know how much danger you're in right now? Do you know how many people want you killed because of how foolish you're living your life?"
He screamed. He still believed I was throwing a tantrum by starting a rogue pack,
I laughed. "Let them come for me. I'm here, waiting,"
I was no longer the little boy they damaged. I wouldn't wait around to get tossed around one more time.
""Rowan!"
"Say goodbye, Your Highness because I'm about to drop this call,"

Chapter 143
Calling him father was a big task for me. He failed woefully as my father and I hated him for that. All he had to do was protect me but he never did that.
I'm coming over to your ridiculous rogue pack in a few days,"
He announced.
Fuck! I cursed under my breath.
"You wouldn't dare take two steps into my pack, your highness. I don't care if you're the werewolf king or not, I'll deny you access,"
I threatened.
"If I don't accept your denial, what would happen then?"
"Don't make me say it," I answered.
I would be forced to raise my claws against him. It would turn the entire werewolf world against me if I attacked him but I wouldn't sit back and let him provoke me. "I'm not coming as the Werewolf king. I'm coming as your father,"
On second thought, I stopped. If there was one thing I knew about the King very well, it would be his blind stubbornness. Arguing any further would only strengthen his mind.
"Fine. Do whatever you want, Your Highness. Come or not, it's not my business but it's my business if I let you into my pack because my pack, my rules,
I suddenly stopped in my tracks. The world around me suddenly became frozen. I could perceive a scent in the air. One that belonged to my 'supposed' mate but she was nowhere around me at that moment. Even when I looked around and tried to move my hand around, nothing was there. It was weird but nothing prepared me for the mysterious scar on my neck the following morning.
Now, this woman who had been driving me crazy since she got here stood in front of me not giving any answer to my question.
"I only guessed. Since Gideon said it was an important guest, I also guessed it would be the werewolf king. I honestly don't know who it was," she lied again.
""Harriette, I breathed out.
Her denial and lies were causing more damage to me than anything else. I wanted to hear the truth from her just once. The more she lied, the more she pulled me back into the darkness I'd struggled and fought so hard to leave behind.
"I'm sorry, Alpha Rowan. I only said what came to my mind," She bowed her head slightly and apologized.
The werewolf King's unwanted visitation to my pack was already getting on my nerves. I didn't want to catch a glimpse of him not to talk of being in his presence. It reminded me of a lot of battles I fought to become who I am and each time I saw him, I lost a bit of my sanity. With Harriette not recognizing my wolf as her mate, and lying about almost everything, I knew it was only a little time before hell broke loose.
I turned on my heels and walked away from her. From everyone. As I walked into my office, a loud, piercing noise echoed in my ear. I held onto my desk for support but it was too late. I fell to the ground. I began hearing voices. They were echoing the life I once lived. "Liar,"
"Pathetic,
"Too stupid for a ten-year-old,"
"I told you not to tell anyone, didn't I?"
"Daddy's mad now,"
'COWARD! You're nothing but a coward, Rowan," That was the last thing I heard before I submitted to the pain one more time. Darkness enveloped me. Unconsciously and unwillingly, I gave the pain to Thorne who was ever ready to take the burden off me even when I didn't want him to.
Author's POV
Five minutes later, still in his human form, Rowan stood up from the floor and stared at the mirror behind him. His bright, black eyes had been replaced with Thorne's red, wild eyes. The wolf smirked as he stared at himself.
"It's my turn now, Rowan. Rest for the time being," Thorne munnured.
