Chapter 23

Chapter 23 Strongly Attracted to Her

Hugo couldn’t tolerate Michael’s indecent behavior toward women, not to mention when the woman this very day was his ex-wife!

Meanwhile, Celia was completely unconscious in Hugo’s arms at this point. She didn’t know who was holding her or where she was going. She had completely lost her guard and resistance.

Hugo called his assistant, Mathias Finch, and asked him to immediately bring up a room key.

After entering the presidential suite on the top floor, Celia was placed on the couch with her long hair flowing down under the light. Her face was flushed, and her hands were tugging at her collar because it was too hot. She wanted to feel some coolness.

Hugo’s gaze became denser. He didn’t dare imagine what was to become of this woman if she hadn’t encountered him.

The very same thing happened five years ago. Did this woman learn nothing?! Will she only come to her senses after being defiled?!

“Serves you right,” he muttered under his breath, then turned to the bathroom..

As the water in the bath ran, Hugo returned to the couch and picked Celia up. However, the young woman, who had just regained some consciousness, suddenly flailed her arms. “Don’t touch me. Go away. you jerk.”

“Do you think I wanted to save you?” A low, cold voice sounded in her ears.

In Celia’s awareness, she found this voice familiar. It sounded like it belonged to Hugo, that jerk.

How could it be him, though? No, she must be imagining it. She struggled to lift her heavy eyelids, and under the hazy light, she saw the face she hated the most and didn’t want to see.

Am I dreaming?

“Hugo…” she called his name through gnashed teeth.

Hugo’s gaze at her turned profound. It had been four years, and he hadn’t thought he would see her again or how he would feel for her. Once, he wanted her to atone for her mother’s sins, but now, he was raising a child she had given birth to, and this child had become his everything.

Although he hadn’t let go of his hatred for her mother, he had convinced himself to spare this girl.

Now, she appeared again, looking so enticing.

No man could remain calm in the face of such temptation, and he was no exception.

The intoxicating scent of gardenia still emanated from her. Her body was still so soft-her hair, her eyes. -and eyebrows, and her alluring red lips.

Hugo’s body suddenly tensed. The desire he hadn’t felt for any woman in four years suddenly awakened like a wild beast,

Damn it! Indeed, for four years, his body only recognized her.

The annoyance made him feel as if he had been infected by the drug she was fed.

“Dare to touch me and see what happens, Spencer.” Celia’s fear caused her to sober up slightly. Although her body was still weak and burning with fever, she wouldn’t allow him to touch her.

Hugo sneered, feeling an inexplicable anger rising within him. How ignorant can this woman be to actually let those jack*sses manipulate her?!

“So what if I touch you?” He crossed his arms and retorted calmly.

“You….” Celia’s blood boiled, intensifying her reaction. She grabbed her collar while breathing heavily.

If she was a naive little daisy four years ago, then she would be a blooming, captivating rose now, even more enticing.

Seeing her current condition and realizing that further teasing might worsen it, Hugo approached her and reached out to lift her horizontally.

“Let me go…. Hugo, you son of a b*tch…”

Celia thought he was going to carry her over to the bed, so she became desperate, and tears welled up in her eyes. She used all her strength to push and hit him, doing anything to make him stop.

Lo and behold, she was taken to the bathroom.

Hugo, if you dare touch me, I won’t-”

Before she could finish her words, the man heartlessly threw her into the bathtub, which was filled with half a pool of water.

Caught off guard, she choked on a mouthful of water.

The coldness dispersed the heat in her body and gradually brought back her sanity. She leaned over the edge of the tub, coughing in a disheveled and powerless state. Soon, she lifted her head and saw the cold and observant man standing several feet away through the water droplets on her long lashes.

It was then she finally realized he was actually saving her.

It was still early summer, so the cold water was still very chilly. Celia shivered in the water, experiencing several chills. Her first thought upon regaining clarity was that someone had drugged her.

Dang it! How could I not have anticipated such deception?! With so many people in the banquet hall, who could it have been?

Celia’s head was still woozy, and she couldn’t focus on thinking about who it might be. That said, she had been foolish that night, allowing herself to fall into this situation.

Lost in her thoughts, Celia realized that the man was no longer in the bathroom, but a clean bathrobe was placed nearby.

Although she didn’t want to accept his kindness, the water was just too cold, and her wet clothes clinging to her body were uncomfortable. She had no choice but to get out of the bathtub, lock the door behind her, take off her wet clothes, and put on the bathrobe.

Then, she started sneezing repeatedly. It seemed that she was bound to catch a cold.

She gathered her wet hair at the back of her head and dried it with a towel. The mirror reflected her pale face that was devoid of color.

Regardless of the circumstances, the fact remained that the man she hated the most had saved her. One way or another, she should thank him.

What she would have experienced tonight was already foreseeable if it weren’t for him.

Celia opened the bathroom door and walked into the living room, where she saw the man sitting lazily or the couch.

She took a deep breath and wanted to thank him, but there seemed to be a lump in her throat preventing her from uttering those words to the man.

Hugo seemed to be anticipating the words ‘thank you. However, nothing came, so he snorted coldly. “What? Can’t even say thank you?”

Celia, devoid of much emotion, said, “Thank you.”

Hugo turned his head and sized her up, wondering if she had anything else beneath the white bathrobe of if that was all she was wearing.

Celia, feeling invaded by his gaze, instinctively crossed her arms over her chest.

She knew better than anyone just how perverse the man could be. What was more, she felt absolutely revolted right then. Why was it he who saved her and not someone else?

She would’ve been grateful if it were anybody else. However, it was the person she hated the most of all people.

She lowered her gaze, her face emitting a cold and enchanting aura while also exuding a delicate and captivating beauty.

Something profound stirred within Hugo as he continued to gaze at her, and he had stood up before he knew it.

Celia noticed this and lifted her head, looking at him with a hint of caution as he approached. Instinctively, she took a step back.

“What are you doing?” Celia’s heart skipped a beat.
