Chapter 11

Chapter 11 He’s Special

Hugo let the boy go and looked at him with concern, thereafter he kissed the boy’s forehead. He thought his heart would stop on his way here.

“I am sorry, sir,” Chris apologized. “I didn’t keep a good eye on him, and someone almost took him away.”

“It’s alright. It’s not his fault. I ran around,” the boy said. He was young, but he knew responsibility. Reminded of something, the boy pointed in a direction. “That pretty lady saved me, Daddy.”

Hugo looked in the direction the boy was pointing, and he saw a slender figure disappearing into the corner. She was holding the hand of a girl. She must be a mother too. “So, who was the kidnapper?”

“No idea. When I got separated from Mr. Chris, the guy covered my mouth and dragged me into a corridor,” said the boy angrily.

Hugo’s face fell, fury flaring in his eyes. Who dares kidnap my son? I will find him, and I will make him pay. “Find that man!” he roared at Chris and took the boy away.

The boy sat in his father’s arms, holding the paper that had that lady’s number written on it. I must ask Daddy to thank her personally. Maybe he’ll fall for her and then he can marry her, and she can be my mommy.

They got into the car, and Hugo asked his son about the kidnapping once more. He then checked on him to confirm that he wasn’t hurt.

“This is her number. The lady who saved me, I mean. You should call her and say thank you,” said the boy.

Jeremy told her that a lady slammed a sign down on the kidnapper and saved him, then she took him to the reception. She did a great service. Hugo looked at the number. He told the boy to stay in the car while he got out and called Celia.

Celia was in the botany with Nelly. She had found and bought a power bank so she could make calls now. Just then, an unknown number called, and she picked it up. “Hi, who might this be?” She had a sweet voice.

Hugo’s heart skipped a beat. Her voice is sweet. “Hi, I’m Jeremy’s father. Thank you, thank you for saving my son.”

The man’s voice made Celia freeze for a few moments. He… He sounds just like that man. Like Hugo, but why? No way. There’s no way Hugo has a son, and this man sounds thankful. She kindly said, “It’s alright, but please keep an eye on him next time he goes anywhere.”

“If it’s alright, I’d like to treat you to something as thanks.”

“It’s alright. I didn’t do much,” Celia said quickly. She didn’t like people thanking her for small favors. While she was on the call, Nelly went missing. Michelle let Celia know before she went to search for Nelly. Shocked, Celia said, “Sorry, but I need to find my girl.” She hung up and quickly searched for Nelly. After that near-kidnapping of just now, she had to make sure to keep Nelly in her sight at all times.

Hugo looked at his phone, surprised. This was the first time a woman hung up on him. For some reason, the woman’s voice sounded familiar, and it reminded him of a certain someone who had gone missing for four years. Celia, but it’s impossible. No way it’s her. Hugo took a deep breath. It had been four years. He thought he could forget her, but whenever he saw someone who looked or sounded like her, something in his heart would stir and he would have an urge to do something rash.

Even though the shadow of Celia would pop up from time to time, he would never search for her. He had a secret he could never let her know.

Celia found Nelly a while later. She was playing around, much to her relief. I thought she got kidnapped. She checked the time and thought it was nearly time to go home. Celia and Michelle then took the girl to a nearby eatery to grab something to eat.

Back at the villa, Hugo was still fuming over his son’s near abduction. He was in his car, staring at the footage his bodyguard gave him. An old man took Jeremy away when no one was looking and dragged him into a quiet corridor. However, the scene where the boy was saved couldn’t be found. The network was cut off because there was maintenance work.

Still, Hugo only wanted details on the kidnapper, and the cops found him easily enough. The man was a serial kidnapper who was sixty-five years old and had just gotten out of jail. The cops quickly captured him. This kidnapping was just a random occurrence done by a kidnapper who thought he could make money off Hugo. It wasn’t a scheme from his rival or enemy, but he still decided to up the boy’s protection.

He was going to tour around the museum with Jeremy, but something urgent came up so he asked the bodyguards to bring him here first. However, other boys wore the same shirt as Jeremy, so the bodyguards missed him eventually.

Fortunately, Jeremy came home safely, but Hugo would not let anything like this happen again. He would make sure that the old man spent the rest of his life in prison. Scum like him did not deserve to see the day of light.

Celia took Nelly back to Bryce’s workshop. Seeing this, Bryce smiled. If we had a daughter, I bet this is the same scene I would come home to. But to his dismay, all his romantic advances had failed. It had been about four years since he tried to woo her, but she wouldn’t budge. In the end, she only agreed to be friends.

Since he didn’t want her to run away in fear, Bryce agreed to that arrangement at first. Fortunately, she didn’t give any other man a chance to woo her either, so he still had a good shot.

“Uncle!” Nelly happily hugged her uncle, and Bryce hugged her back.

He looked at Celia. “Let’s have lunch together.”

“Sure.” Celia nodded, smiling.

In the restaurant, Celia kept playing with Nelly. Noticing that, Bryce asked, “You like children a lot, I see. Ever thought about having one of your own?”
