A Lethal Lady

Chapter 8

Instinct led Tom to put his hand on his gun, the troublemaker was armed, along with his companions. Intuition told him f couldn't let his guard down with these guys, he already knew they were going to bring him a lot of inconvenience.

The best thing he could do was to put an end to the problem at the root.

Get out of my town, and don't come back.

“You can't forbid us not to come, Sheriff Wesley. Coloma is free to receive anyone, and we will not be an exception.” The man answers, and then spitting black spittle, he ends up wiping the remains of his mustache with the back of his hand. -1 will not repeat them again, until today I will tolerate your presence in the village.

-And what do you intend to do to us, sheriff?

The subject smiles showing how yellowish and rotten his teeth were. His companions, seeing him smiling and mocking th sheriff, his men imitate him.

Tom was not willing to tolerate that degree of insolence. His patience had reached its limit.

While the sheriff and the stranger were arguing, the townspeople approached them, intent on finding out what the end o the dispute would be. The only one not approaching them was Rouse, from where she stood she could clearly see what w going on.

-1s he going to kill us all? Or better yet, is he going to imprison us? He knows he can't do that, we're...

But Tom didn’t allow him to finish his arrogant words, for in a split second he had disarmed him with a shot in his hand. Quickly, Tom drew his pistol and shot the drunkard in the hand, his revolver ended up far away and a significant amount blood flowed from his hand.

-Damn you, sheriff,’ the man shouted, holding his bloody hand. Shoot, you bastard pigs, kill the bastard,” ordered the ma all in pain, to his companions.

Tom didn’t even wait for them to draw, when he quickly shot each of them in different parts of the body. None of them would die, but at least he would keep them occupied and away from the town.

1 want them out of my town,” he threatened, still with the revolver in his hands, the barrel of which emitted white smoke Next time it won't be just simple wounds,” he sharpened his gaze.

“You're a bastard, you blew off my thumb.

-Billy, get out.

“You'll pay for that, sheriff.

-1ll be waiting for you.

Tom watches as the man's companions struggle to get him to his horse. All wounded and bloodied, they get on the anima and whip them violently to get lost on the trail into the desert.

She would not get rid of them, but at least she would not see them again for a while...

She barely managed to grasp what had happened, the sheriff had drawn his revolver at an impressive speed, it was so fas that the outlaw did not even notice it. Only the detonation of the pistol was what alerted him. He really was very agile wi a revolver, that man. With what other gun would he be so skillful? the blonde wondered.

Rouse looked closely at that sheriff as he stood with his back turned, yes he was dangerous. She watched as the ruffians took off in terror at the lesson they were taught, but she was sure they would be back. They were outlaws, it was in their genes to come back for revenge.

The blonde wondered if Tom was aware that these guys were coming back for revenge?

Tom holstered his gun and turned around, as he did so, his gaze connected with Rouse’s. She had witnessed the whole spectacle. She had witnessed the whole spectacle. He looked at her impassively, and she did the same to him. Which led him to think, she didn't seem surprised, and that confirmed his suspicions that she wasn't what she wanted to appear to be.

-Sherifft -The man who was on the ground stands up. Billy is out of control,” he adds, as he shakes the dirt off his jeans. + wanted to kill me, for a whore.

-Go home,” Tom orders him.

Yes.

“You can't come in this town and do whatever you want,” he says in a loud, authoritative voice. And that goes for everyon here.

Although the warning was mostly directed at the bar patrons, Tom was only looking at one person. Rouse couldn't take hi eyes off him, and that was because he sensed that this woman was going to give him a lot of trouble.

The sheriff took one last look at Rouse and then left for the police station. If with what he had just seen, she did not real that she could not do whatever she wanted in town, then he would make her understand it by other methods.

-Billy, that damn sheriff has left us with a lot of holes. One of the outlaws companions told him while another bandaged his hand.

They were forced to stop in the middle of the desert, in order to heal their wounds, so they could continue on their way t Tombstone. Billy kept looking at his hand, and to think that the wretched sheriff had blown off his thumb, he would neve be able to shoot with that hand again.

-Damn Wesley, ever since he became sheriff, he's been nothing but trouble for me.

“What are we going to do, Billy? -The guy next to him insisted.

“We're going to kill him,” he answered, staring at his hand. We'll hang him, and then we'll fill his body with so many bullet that they'll come out of the dog's mouth.

“We're going to need more people, we wouldn't be able to finish him off.

Yes," he smiles, then spits black spittle on the ground. And I know who we're going to ask for help to end the life of Coloma’s beloved sheriff.

Billy laughs loudly as he stands up, his companions see him and then look at each other's faces. The outlaw draws his other revolver in his left hand and starts firing into the sky for no reason.

Fortunately, I am also right-handed. Just because I lost one hand doesn't mean I can't shoot with the other. And with this one, I'm going to put a bullet in that damn sheriff's head.

The man points his gun in the direction of the town, since that day he had declared war on Tom Wesley and the town of Coloma.

-And what do you plan to do after your murder with the sheriff, Billy?

-'m going to become the new sheriff of that damn town, and everybody will do what I tell them to do.

He laughs again in a despotic manner, and his companions have no choice but to follow him.

“Mount up, you bastards. We're a day and a half away from the city, the sooner we get there, the better.

They all obeyed, sore and still bleeding, mounted their horses leaving at great speed towards the city.

Rouse and the doctor's wife entered the town hotel, where they were greeted by Hilary Miller. A young woman with very f skin, but at the same time burned, it was obvious that she had not led a very good life despite the fact that she appeared to be very young.

Rouse knew very well what it was like not to lead a good life, but this young woman looked quite worn out.

-Good morning, Hilary,” the doctor's wife greeted her. Rouse thought that if this woman greeted her, then she wasn't one those women from the bad life.

“What brings you here? She asked, looking at Rouse. “Is she the stranger the sheriff rescued? -She was very curious, Rou thought.

Yes, she’s feeling a little better now, and Miss..." The older woman looked at her a little suspiciously. Well, Miss LeRoy needs a job. I was wondering if you had an opening for her.

Hilary looked down and up at the Rouse, it seemed as if she was scrutinizing her. The blonde didn't say a word, even if sh didn't like the look, she needed to save some money to pay off her debt so she could get the hell out of that town.

-In fact, if I have anything for her, Lauren needs help with the cleaning of the hotel. She can't handle it all by herself, I thi she could use some help.

Perfect, I think that will be enough for you,” the doctor's wife looks at her enthusiastically.

Rather, it seemed to her that he was urging her to get her out of his house... he could understand her, she was young and could well attract the doctor's attention. However, she was not very pleased that he thought she was a slut. Although, wh; could she do? It was possible that many would think so.

For the moment, the job was good for her...

But I can’t pay you much, the clients are few, so I won't pay you that much,” the woman warned him.

-All right, I'l settle for what you'll give me. But I need a place to sleep.

“Well, I have a room in the back, it's not very comfortable, but it'll do. You'll also be able to eat, in compensation for the fact that I won't pay you well

-All right.

since they've agreed, I have to go now.

The doctor's wife leaves, and Rouse looks back at the woman before her.

“You need another wardrobe, you can't work here in that dress.

It's the only one I have.

“I think one of mine will do.

Rouse detailed Hilary's dress and suspected that it would fit, but in truth it was a bit revealing. It looked a lot like the one the women in the canteen wore.

-Or maybe one of Lauren's will fit you,” she says, Rouse suspects from her displeased expression that she suggested another outfit.

“What am I going to do here?

I wasn't there to look at dresses, let alone be fashionable, but to get money?
