A Hunter's Blood: The Crimson Contracts

Chapter 24

“Your quest is, essentially, complete.”

Drakx felt the familiar nothingness surround him once more. The memory rushed back into his persona like an avalanche.

“You have convoluted this eventuality.”

The voice was, very familiar. It wasn’t a voice. More so something to permeate the soul. It was very hard to listen to a voice without any ears.

Drakx had nothing physical anymore. He was at the higher level once again. The memory of serenity returned. His conversation continued.

“I have completed your ‘contract’, Zhorryn,” He thought he said. “The only complication is Kimi’s death.”

“Her essence was not a component of my request. She is inconsequential for that scenario. Your essence is the complication.”

Drakx became confused by this. “They are back here. Where ever ‘here’ is. Contract completed. What’s the problem?”

“Simultaneous transfer to this realm was not a viable equation. I am absolute, and the element of confusion will paradox existence.” Zhorryn interrupted.

Drakx knew it wouldn’t matter to him momentarily. He knew his previous existence wasn’t going to be important anymore. He was just going to wait, and let bliss take him.

“You have brought them back, however, you have not restored serenity. Your actions, have injected, insurmountable chaos. Bliss is impossible now.”

Zhorryn answered his feelings unhindered. The revelations became apparent.

“I have never ignored the completion of a contract. Instruct my actions to correct this dilemma,” Drakx understood the situation.

“You will revert to a physical form. You will defeat them in an arena on this plain. You will restore balance.”

Drakx knew the battle was a negative possibility for him. “They’re seven. I’m grossly outnumbered. What if I can’t defeat all of them?”

“You will be flesh for your comfort, and ability. That is all. Remember this area, and your state. If you do not defeat them, balance will still be restored.”

Drakx had to acclimatize to this realm, again. Fully remembering their previous conversation, he began to understand.

“Ready to complete the contracts. Send me to the arena.” He prepared himself.

There they were. In the blink of an eye, he was in an arena with the DNAccidents. All seven were there.

“Are you ready for this?” Kimi, surprisingly, whispered in his ear.

He looked to the right, and saw her standing by his side. He thought Zhorryn said she was inconsequential.

“In my request. Not this new situation.”

“I’ve died more times than all of you,” He whispered back to her. “Experience will beat perfection this time. Just remember, we’re dead.”

“I am sorry my succumbing to anger killed us,” she said, filled with sorrow.

“It doesn’t matter unless you can’t release logic,” He said. “Illogicality is detrimental to survival right now. Let rationality go.”

Kimi didn’t understand. This realm was foreign to her. Something propelled her here with Drakx. She knew she had to assist him in victory over the DNAccidents. Now, he is telling her to let logic go. With this ethereal situation, it was hard for her to keep it.

“My mind won’t release logic. I am not programmed that way. Although, with the recent events, it should be easy,” she said.

“Death grants you inhibitions. Let logic go,” he told her again.

It was too late for explanation. The DNAccidents rushed towards them at a break neck speed.

“Heads up, baby!” he yelled. “Here they come! Please, drop logic now!”

Zannon was the first to contact Drakx. He hit him in the throat with a planet shaking punch. He wanted to liquefy his thorax. With the amount of power, following the blow, it should’ve happened. It didn’t. Drakx didn’t even cough.

A second blow came from Chelys. He kicked Drakx in the temple. He was robbed of the hope to see blood, and the effects of brain damage. Drakx didn’t move.

The rest, except Sensus, converged on Drakx. She attacked Kimi.

She threw a Muy Tai kick. She studied the fighting style, and knew its incapacitation was swift.

Kimi also studied the martial arts, and knew Wu Shu was an ideal stance for defense.

She blocked Sensus’ kick. Sensus caught her in the chest with an elbow. Kimi lost her breath.

The others kept striking Drakx to no avail. They thought death made him indestructible. Drakx knew illogicality did.

Drakx hoped Kimi understood the same thing. Sadly, she couldn’t release logic.

They were dead. Drakx understood physical law didn’t exist here. He understood his physicality was for his comfort. He was flesh in a place where flesh had no law. He had to let logic go. Logic was the unforgiving nemesis. Logic was an evil entity. He turned, to look at Kimi, and saw logic help Sensus break her neck.

“No!” he screamed. Kimi slumped to the ground, and ceased animation.

She was gone. She let logic destroy her like an abusive husband she couldn’t leave. Drakx aggressively snapped.

He wondered how he would overcome them. Thinking became as jilted as logic.

“You can’t abandon logic! Your end will be your perfection!” he screamed at them. “The only way to preserve your lives is to be human! As much as you despise it, it is ironic humanity would’ve saved you!”

Before they could understand his rant, he began tearing into them with barbaric violence. He began to dislocate, and rip limbs from their bodies. Thrusting his hand through Zannon’s chest. He squeezed his heart into mush. He then ripped his throat out.

Zannon went into arrest, while choking on his own blood. He stuck both hands, knuckles touching, into Kaynehl’s chest. He grabbed his ribs, through a broken sternum, and ripped apart his rib cage. Drakx exposed Kaynehl’s lungs, heart, and stomach. Kaynehl had a frozen look of terror, as his organs fell to the ground in a wet, red heap.

Drakx continued his psychotic carnage. He shoved him thumbs into Chelys’ eye sockets. He crushed the back of his skull, while pulling the front apart. Chelys’, precious brain fell from his split skull, and splat to the ground.

He took Elreich’s limbs, ripped them off, and beat him into mush with his own leg.

Yherdas received Blood Wings. Drakx shoved his hand into his back, and pulled his lungs out the hole, spewing blood near his spine.

Dhaajrc knew he was an abomination against God. By twisting his own neck, he saved himself from the blood lust of Drakx. He agreed with Drakx anyway. He just wanted the peace he had become accustomed to. Being the initial DNAccident to be re-dead first, this new uncontrollable situation interrupted his graduation to the new realm.

With Dhaarc’s self-extinguishing, he left Sensus, as the last candidate.

“You are solely the reason for my psychosis,” he said, in a strangely calm manner. “Your hate for me is now dwarfed by my mutual, but superior rage against you.”

Sensus couldn’t move in her terror of him. Her empathy was amplified. She felt his anger for her, and couldn’t stop it.

She couldn’t physically move. Aside from her terror, he froze her, as she froze him in his last death dealt by her.

She couldn’t move, and began to sweat.

“You’ve destroyed her. There is no reprieve, or negotiation for your fate. Your intentions are evil, and I do believe, Hell is hot!”

She understood it was his touché. She boiled his blood before. It was time for her to see how it felt.

“I won’t stop your vocal chords,” He said. “Your screams are my music.”

The pain came swiftly. She began to feel her blood steam.

“The reason I can manipulate all of you so easily,” he whispered through her screams. “Was your slavery to logic.”

Sensus, barely heard him through her own screaming.

“I know it’s hard to hear me, but can you overcome your intense pain? Can you stop your screaming to understand my explanation? You can’t help but to involuntarily acquire new knowledge,” he whispered. “You must stop your Involuntary screams to accommodate your involuntary thirst for new knowledge. I’m enjoying, mind fucking you.”

She kept screaming as he continued. “When Kimi said that she wasn’t ‘programmed’ for this, I knew being analytical would be your crutch. You can’t release logic in a realm where logic doesn’t exist. Well, being human, I can.”

Her blood began to explode from her eyes, ears, and nose with bubbling splats. Her finality was coming soon to cease her dark conundrum.

“Sensus, your bounty was an Erad only. You have destroyed the only woman I have ever loved,” he said through clenched teeth. Then he finished loud enough for her to hear. “Completing the contract, BITCH!”

Her scream was cut short by her body exploding. The blood covered the arena walls.

“Balance is restored.”

He heard Zhorryn, as Sensus’ blood dripped from his body. It was over.

“You have earned a new life.”

“I don’t want it,” Drakx said defeated.

“You must return to maintain balance. If you wish to die again, it will be your choice. I believe your companion would be upset.”

Drakx had a surprised look. “Where is she?!”

“Her presence was the catalyst for your evolution to complete your task. For that situation, she had consequence.”

“She’s…ALIVE?!” Drakx blurted.

“She will return with you.”

Drakx began to recant his previous statement in lieu of these recent facts. “I thought I would have to live my existence without her! I’m sorry for my effrontery! Please grant me a life to share with her!”

“My gift to you is a higher intelligence. Your new life was earned. Whatever you do with your life is not my interest or concern.”

“With Kimi by my side, I will relish my new existence,” he said, with fervor. “Thank you, Zhorryn.”

The fresh pain of new birth answered his gratitude. He began to crash back to life.
