Chapter 3
Christopher's POV
"Dude shouldn't you be home keeping your wife's company?" My buddy Jake said to me as we lounged around in the VIP area of his club.
It was a Friday night and we had decided to hang out and relaxed at his club, me, him and my next Buddy Clint.
"Say that again and I'll punch it right back down your throat." I threatened him.
Ever since this whole marriage thing, Jake made it his job to tease me every chance he gets. I know that's just how we tease each other, always messing with each other but this whole teasing often reminded me how I'm being tied to someone who isn't my type. The upside to that was that I was now CEO of the company and now with the merger we were making a huger profit and was more successful than ever.
"Jake, why don't you go and find a wife and lay off Chris?" Clint said to Jake.
"My dear friend as appealing as that sound, I'll have to pass. I'm enjoying my free life right now." Jake said chuckling as he took a swig of his beer before putting back the bottle on the table. "What's so bad about settling down and getting married? I was thinking of proposing to Tasha sometime soon, Clint said, "I just want to make sure she's ready."
Tasha was Clint's steady girlfriend for over four years now. How he managed to be in a relationship with one girl so long I wouldn't know. My longest relationships were only about four months and seven months. Four month in high school until I found out she cheated on me and then again back in college for seven months and that didn't work out for some reason. Ever since, I had just stick to casual flings, from time to time hook ups with the same person or one night stands. I haven't been in a long term relationship ever since.
"Really dude?" I asked him excitedly. I couldn't believe it, my best Buddy Clint was a goner, he had finally got sucked in.
"Ah man, he's whipped. Tasha's got him so whipped." Jake said feigning terrified.
"Shut up." Clint replied as he punched Jake hard in the shoulder.
"Ow! Dude!" Jake said as he rubbed his shoulder.
"What's the secret?" I asked as I took a drink from my beer.
"Secret to what?" Clint asked looking at me now.
"To you and Tasha being together for so long, you being so faithful?" I asked seriously, I was really curious.
"Yeah man, I'm curious too." Jake said leaning forward now paying full attention to Clint.

"Well, when you're lucky enough to find someone as great as Tasha. Someone who is as funny and tolerant as she is. Someone who you can feel so completely comfortable around and feel that you guys are compatible; I guess you'll do anything to have that person stick around. Tasha completes me." Clint smiled.
"Damn... you were right man. He's totally whipped." I chuckled and high fived Jake who was now laughing more as well.
"Maybe you should be the one to get whipped too since you're already married." Clint replied chuckling.
"Man I don't even want to remember." I groaned running my hands down my face.
"What's so bad about Allison man?" Clint asked seriously.
"I'm just not feeling her, she's not my type. And this whole thing just caused me to just dislike her. Can you imagine being forced into something like this?" I asked seriously.
"Dude, you do know any of this isn't her fault either dont you? She was forced into it just like you were." Clint said seriously.
"I never thought of it like that, but anyway if she had just told her father she wasn't going to do this none of this wouldve happened. Its not like she was going to be the next CEO and had that to worry about." I replied. "When since have you ever turned down a female?" Jake asked.
"She's still a kid for Christ sake." I retorted.
"What do you mean she's a child? You said she's twenty-one, you're 26, well 27 in a few months but still. That's only just six years older than her." Clint said to me. "She had to give up her life as well and move here. Chris, I'm going be honest but you're being a jerk."
"I'm being a jerk?" I asked in disbelief. "I'm only behaving how any sane person being thrown into a situation like this would. How would you react if you had to make a decision like this?"
"I'd probably be just as mad about it as you are but I wouldn't take it out on the girl since she was also thrown into the same situation." Clint replied genuinely. You never told your dad no, and she didnt either, so you cant blame her for this. "Wow," Jake said clapping. "Morals man, talk about good morals. Hmm, that was deep, real deep."
This caused the growing tension to break as all of us started laughing again before changing the subject. From Jake and I met back in university, Jake was always the one to make fun of any situation and melting the ice. Clint was the levelheaded one, and I was the hothead. It was always that way.
