A Bride for a Merger

Chapter 26

I wasn't feeling that well for the past couple days at all. When Bryan came back from surprising Tori in Chicago, we met up for lunch where he told me how much fun he had. Bryan told me how nice he thought my family was and how happy he was that I had convinced him to go. We had parked a little way away from the restaurant and when we were ready to leave, the rain started pouring. I had gotten wet when I ran from the restaurant to my car, and I had contracted a slight cold since then.

When I woke up in the morning, I had a full on fever, cold and flu. My head was killing me, my nose was all stuffy, my throat hurt and I had a fever. I had to call in sick from work because I knew there was no way I had enough strength to even get up out of bed. My eyes were killing me and I could barely keep them opened.

I had managed to scramble to the bathroom to splash water on my face then brushed my teeth. Afterwards, I went scrambling back to my room weakly.Pluto seemed to sense that I wasn't well because he seemed really alert and ran up to my feet looking up at me like a person who was worried.

"Just give me a few minutes okay Pluto. I'll soon get you something to eat." I said climbing back onto my bed.

I was definitely weak and not feeling well. I closed my eyes and I laid my head on my pillow. I laid there for a couple of minutes trying to see if I would feel a little better. Pluto had managed to climb up as well and nudged my shoulder with his nose. I didn't even feel well enough to give him much attention at the moment. After a while, he just left me alone and ran off.

"Allison?" I heard Christopher called me outside my door after I had been laying down.

"Hmm?" I managed to answer.

"Hey you okay?" Christopher asked as he came into my room.

"Not really." I mumbled weakly.

Christopher came over to my bed before putting his hand on my forehead.

"Whoa, Allison you're burning up!" Christopher said to me. "When I saw Pluto came down stairs barking, I knew something must be up."

"Yeah, and I don't feel too good." I groaned trying to get up off the bed as fast as I could.

I had managed to reach the bathroom and kneel in front of the toilet just in time to empty my already empty stomach. All that was in me was the little I had ate last night and cold. I felt a hand rubbing my back as I finished heaving and coughing over the bowl.

"Christopher you shouldn't be in here. You're going to get your suit all smelly and you have to go to work." I said covering the bowl and reaching up to flush it.

"I'm not going to work today Allison. You're really sick. Do you think I'm going to leave you here by yourself?" Christopher asked flushing the toilet for me and helping me up.

I rinsed my mouth in the sink and Christopher helped me back to my room and into bed.

"You stay here okay? I'm going to get you some soup and some medicine." Christopher said to me as he threw the covers over me.

"But Pluto..." I started.

"Don't worry, I already fed him before I came up here to check on you. He's fine." Christopher said to me. "I'll be back in a few minutes."

"Thanks Christopher." I mumbled weakly before closing my eyes.

I must have dozed off for a while because next thing I knew, was that Christopher was waking me up to take my medicine and eat something. I opened my eyes looking at him, I noticed that he had changed from his suit and was wearing a T- shirt and shorts.

"I don't think I want anything really to eat right now." I said groggily.

"That's not an option now, you have to eat something in order to take the medicine. So come on, try to sit up a bit." Christopher said before helping me to sit up slightly with my pillows behind my back.

After helping me to sit up, Christopher sat beside me and proceeded to feed me by blowing on the hot contents then pushing it towards my mouth.

"Hey, you really don't have to do that, I can feed myself you know?" I tried protesting.

"Yeah, I know but right now you're sick and if I leave it up to you to feed yourself now, I'm pretty sure none of this soup is going to get eaten." Christopher said before picking up the spoon once again. "Now open up."

I decided to just let Christopher feed me because he was right. I didn't have enough strength to feed myself. After I had finished, Christopher also gave me some medicine and a glass of water. When I was done, I tried sliding back down but Christopher put his arm over my shoulder pulling the top half of me over to rest on his chest.

"What are you doing?"I asked him. "You shouldn't be this close to me, you're going to get sick as well."

"It doesn't matter, I want to make you comfortable. So if I get sick too, it'd be worth it. We'll be sick together." Christopher joked.

"That's so sweet," I smiled weakly. "You are crazy Christopher."

"Maybe, but I am crazy about you." he replied.

I honestly didn't have the strength at the moment to argue with him about what was said. I would be better able to deal with this when I was feeling much better.

"I'll be able to answer that once I'm feeling better." I chuckled slightly before closing my eyes as I laid my head on his chest and threw my arm over his waist.
