Chapter Chapter No 25 Broken pieces
Seventeen Years Later
“This Little Shine of Mine, I am gonna let it shine, this little shine of mine” She was singing and washing dishes, and she was feeling a bit of pain, because of a cut on her hand, something she got from her “parents, “I have to finish it before they come back,” she whispered. She had done the dishes and was now going to the dining table so that she could arrange the dishes. She lit up the candle when she heard the car’s horn.
“They are home,” she thought, panicking. She ran towards the door so that she could open it.
“Bitch, what took you so long?” Asked a short-haired woman, she was followed by a tall, muscular, and red-bearded man.
“I am sorry, I was arranging dishes,” she said afraid.
“Clean the mess and bring the things from the car,” said the man.
She ran towards the car, there were a lot of things she had to bring inside the house single-handedly. She grabbed everything, it was all full of liquids and edibles. She was walking carefully inside the house, she had put everything over the counter.
“Hazel, Where is my ketchup?” The woman screamed from outside. She turned in a rush and was about to leave when accidentally she touched the wine bottle which slipped from the shelf and fell. She was shaking with fear. Both the man and woman came inside the kitchen in anger.
“You broke the bottle we brought for our guests, you dunderhead,” said the woman and grabbed her hair. She slapped her five times.
“No, No, Adia, why are you wasting your time over this stupid thing? Let her go,” the man said calmly. Hazel looked at him in surprise, because he had never saved her before.
“Go, Get out of my side,” said Adia with anger. She ran towards her room.
“Elijah, why did you save her?” She asked while crossing her arms around her chest.
“If something happens to her you know we will not only lose the money we get because we adopted her but also we will go to jail,” he said while looking at the stairs from where Hazel had gone.
“She is annoying Elijah, we could have adopted another one, why?” She said with disappointment.
“She is not bad, she never speaks in front of us, we break her spirit since childhood but you are the one who always complains,” he said.
“I wonder why you suddenly change the tone for that bitch?” She said and turned.

She ran towards her bed and lay over it with tears in her eyes. “Another day with abuse, since I remember I came here I have been abused physically and emotionally, she hits me, and when she gets tired, she verbally abuses me, I was five when they adopt me, my real parents are unknown, Every month a caretaker of the orphanage came to look if I am okay and I have to tell him that I am fine, she threads me, I don’t know how much pathetic life I am going to spend, sometimes I want to quit but I am too scared to do so, she was staring at the roof while thinking about her miserable life. She got up and went inside the bathroom to take a warm shower.
She took her clothes off and looked at her reflection in the mirror when she noticed her unfit health and the scars on her body. She touched her scars, there were different injuries, some were old some new, few burn marks. She wanted to complain but she was too afraid to do it. She has been abused for a long time.

She was making pancakes, it was early morning and they were still sleeping, they ordered her to make breakfast before they were awake. She prepared breakfast and set the dishes on the table, she was about to sit on the chair when a memory came into her mind.
“Oh, she is so unworthy Elijah, after everything we have done to her she wants to disobey us?” Said Adia angrily. They were having breakfast.
“Mum, it’s, it’s not like that I, I was just…..” she was about to complete her sentence when Elijah had thrown the pancake on her face.
“What have we told you? Not to talk in front of us, when we speak you should pay attention,” he got up off his chair and looked like a huge monster.
“I think she has forgotten what we have told her Elijah,” said Adia angrily.
She beat her with a mob that evening, she felt so helpless.
***********************************
A tear fell from her eyes and she got up from the chair she went outside to water the plants. When she was 7 Adia physically abused her, she beat her so much that she was about to faint, she also tore her clothes while abusing her. The couple used her as a punching bag. They adopted her just for the insurance money. She was just a scapegoat for them. Verbal and emotional abuse was her daily routine.
She has been with this family for a decade. She came here when she was 5 and has been abused and her spirit was broken. She was scared of them. They never let her go outside, they homeschooled her when the lawyer asked them about this, and they gave fake proof of her poor health. She has never seen the outer world.
Once her foster father trapped her inside a dark room for hours. These abuses made her so weak that she was unable to take any stand for herself.
They were awake, Adia came to the kitchen and poured milk into a bowl.
“Hazel, you snotty little bastard, where are you?” She called out loud.
Hazel ran towards the kitchen.
“Yes, mum?” She asked.
“Where is my pie?” She asked her angrily.
“But mom, you said you want a pancake for breakfast,” she said, afraid.
“You bitch, I said to make pie and pan both,” she screamed like a mad woman.
She got up from her chair and slapped her so hard that her lips bled.
“Get lost bitch,” she screamed.
She ran out of the kitchen and applied some medicine over her injured lip. She was now habitual about these injuries.
“Prepare everything at home, I am going to a party, and remember if any mistake I will put you on the stake,” she said while raising her finger.
She nodded.
“Honey, are you sure you don’t want to come?” She asked Elijah.
“Yeah my friends are coming,” he said with unknown expressions. Adia smiles mysteriously.
Hazel never saw them like this. She felt her heart beating strangely. Like something was alarming her.
Adia left and Elijah went to his room not before staring at her. She felt too insecure.
She went inside her room and locked it. She sat on her bed thinking about what next they are planning for her. She lay over her bed and started staring over the wall until her eyes stopped by the chest in the corner. It was her only personal thing in the house. Orphanage sister Agnes had given her these things when she was leaving the Orphanage with her foster parents 10 years ago. There were a few toys and some belongings; she had them when she was being left at the orphanage newborn. She got up and went towards the chest and opened it. The toys were still there, There was a teddy bear with her which Adia threw into the mud when she first came here.
She picked it up and hugged it. She was relieved to hold the toy after many years. Then a solid thing fell. She looked at it, it was something glowing and beautiful. Just then she felt her head go light. She walked slowly towards her bed and fell upon it. After a while, she felt her body go numb.
It was a stormy evening. The rain was very heavy. She woke up at 8 O’clock. The raindrops were pouring over her window. Her eyes were still closed.
“Hello,” something whispered inside her head. She got up in fear. “Who is it?” She asked in fear.
“Hello Hazel don’t be afraid,” said a voice inside her head. She felt her heart beating too fast. “Hey don’t be afraid it’s me, Clair, your wolf,” said a voice.
“My what?” She almost screamed.
“You might not know me or our entire existence, I tried to contact you when we were 7 but due to unknown reasons I was unable to contact you, but today somehow I can talk to you. I am your wolf” said a voice inside her head.
“Hazel came right over here,” said Elijah from downstairs. She jumped with fear.
“Don’t go, he is not at a good” said Clair.
“If I don’t go he will come up here,” she said afraid.
“Hazel” he screamed again.
“I have to go,” she said and ran out of the room. Clair was continuously warning her.
When she reached the place from where he was calling her. Much to her horror, 5 men who looked like gangsters were sitting on the couches and drinking. She knows Adia and Elijah had not a good friend circle but for the first time in a while, she felt more insecure.
They were all smiling evilly. She felt her legs numb. “She is the one,” said Elijah, who was drunk.
“Oh no tell you they are not good at all,” said Clair.
“I have sold you to them for tonight,” said Elijah in a drunken state.
“No you can’t do it, I will tell this to the authorities,” she said afraid.
“How come you will tell? We have arranged everything already” said a black man.
She looked around, there was a camera.
“He did not sell you to us but to the adult industry,” said another man who was white. She felt her body go numb. A man who seemed to be an actor in the act came ahead.
“Let me take control,” said Clair.
“What?” She said out loud everyone started staring at her.
“Is she mad?” Asked the black man.
“I said let me take control,” repeated Clair.
“What do you mean by,” she said but in a jolt of the second, she felt strange darkness.
Clair had taken over her body.
“What the hell happened to her eyes” screamed a man.
“Look inside my eyes you will see your hell” whispered Clair sinisterly. She grabbed him by the throat and lifted him, she threw him over the wall. She did the same to the other men.
Elijah was so drunk that he did not remember a thing about where he was; he fell on his own.
After another jolt, Hazel came back to her senses. She looked around and everything was a mess.
“What happened?” She asked.
“Your wolf’s happened,” said Clair proudly inside her head.
“Now what are you looking for? Pack your things, they will awake, we have to run” said Clair.
“But where will we go?” Asked Hazel, afraid.
“First you were alone. You had nowhere to go now you have me, I won’t let anything happen to you, now grab your things” Clair said.
She ran towards her room and opened her chest, she searched for things, and she found a chain with a white shining locket. She grabbed it and wore it. She has had that necklace since she was found in front of an orphanage. Then she went to Adia’s room so that she could grab some money, she found a few dollars and then she ran out of the house.
It was raining.
“Where will we go?” She asked. Then she rolled her eyes.
“Talking to you is like I am talking to myself,” she said.
“You might feel like that because you don’t know anything,” said Clair.
“What do you mean by anything?” She asked.
“You are a werewolf,” said Clair. They heard a loud thunderstorm.
