Chapter 9
Chapter 9
LILY
After getting the strange phone call and the humiliation of my life, Lisa and I hurry back home. Marco said I will be called tomorrow, so I’m ignoring any other stripper related calls until then.
The ride back home is silent and filled with tension. Thankfully, Lisa leaves me to lick my wounds in peace. Tears p rick my eyes at the thought that I am no longer getting married. I cannot believe Edmund moved on so quickly.
When we arrive at the apartment, I use a headache as an excuse to flee to my room. I’m supposed to visit mum at the hospital tonight but right now, all I feel like doing is cry my eyes out.
After what feels like three minutes, a heavy knock on my door has me jolting awake.
“Lily? Lily, are you in there? There’s someone here to see you.”
I shake my head, feeling completely disoriented. The time on my alarm clock reads. nine twenty eight. F uck! It’s been two hours.
“Lily! Open the door, please.”
Lisa sounds alarmed so I shoot out of bed and pull the door open.
“Lisa?”
Her relieved face fills my vision.
“Oh, thank Go d. There’s a man here to see you.”
My heart pumps with hope.
“Is it Edmund?”
Her face falls.
“No. He says his name is Marco Marcelli.”
I freeze, my pulse thundering.
“Wh-what did you say?” I whisper weakly.
Lisa’s eyes narrow playfully at me.
“Girl, that man is one piece of hot cake. You didn’t tell me you were doing older, se xy

men now. Rawr.”
I slap
my palm against my head.
“That’s because I’m not.”
I walk past Lisa, my steps slow and heavy. I haven’t even seen him yet and dread is already biting through my stomach. When I pull open our front door and do not see him standing outside, I begin to get confused.
“Uh, Lisa? I thought you said Marco was here.”
“She didn’t lie.” I turn sharply at the sound of that smooth, dark baritone. My heart nearly stops when I find him reclined on our sofa like he owns the place, legs crossed.
It take me a moment to recover from his insanely good looks. Not a single slicked, black hair is out of place. His eyes burn a hot, fiery path through my heated b*dy.
“What are you doing here?”
His eyes darken dangerously.
“I thought you knew by now that I do not like to be kept waiting.”
“What are you talking about?’
A lazy finger rubs slowly over his se xy-as-hell l*ps and like the per vert I am, my eyes are firmly glued to the progress of that finger.
“I’ve been here for the past one hour, Lily.”
That snaps me out of my day dreaming.
“What? Why?”
His gaze heats.
“You look beautiful when you’re sleeping, cara.”
I freeze.
“You came in my room?”
He smiles.
“Amongst many other things.”
I shake my head, unable to believe his smugness.

“You did no such anything. Lisa would have stopped you.”
For a moment, he says nothing. Then,
“Believe whatever makes you sleep better at night, my pet.”
It takes the thought that I’m no longer getting married in three months to remember that I hate this man.
“What are you doing here? Aren’t you contented with destroying my social life? Do you want to invade my private space as well?”
His eyes tighten.
“I did see the videos of your epic disgrace on Instagram, but that is a story for another day. What is it by your time?”
I shrug,
“Why does it matter?”
“Did you or did you not receive a call from one of my most important clients, clearly stating that you are expected to strip for them tonight?”
I look around quickly to make sure Carlisa is not within ear shot.
“Yes, I got the stu pid call. But you specifically said that I will be resuming tomorrow.”
“That was before my clients showed up in town. I want you to go in there, freshen up and get ready to leave with me in the next ten minutes. You’re already late as it is.”
Annoyed, I fold my arms and stare him down.
“I would have you know that not only do I have a shift at the bar tonight, I’ve also got a class early tomorrow morning. Going out tonight was not in my plans.”
Marco gets to his feet, tall and imposing and I almost take a step back on a sudden burst of fear. His blue eyes are cold and expressionless as he stalks in my direction. I clench my fingers into fists in a bid to calm my raging heartbeat.
When he’s within touching distance, I reflexively breathe in the scent of his delicious. billion dollar cologne.
He leans over and his hot breath wafts over the skin of my
n*eck.
“I will let the fact that you just outright disobeyed my order sl*p, Lily. But I’m informing you a second time. Go inside, freshen up. You have clients to service tonight.”

F uck, I hate his stu pid pride so much.
“Yes, you have control over a marginal part of my life now, but that doesn’t mean you get to order me around. You specifically said that I will resume tomorrow. If I miss my shift tonight, I might get fired. Now, please leave.”
Marco’s eyes transform from a cold, dark blue to an icy black.
“Remember that I gave you a choice, my pet.” He growls
Without warning, he lifts me as easily as if I weighed nothing and throws me over his shoulder.
My startled shriek has Lisa running out of the room. She comes to a stop, her eyes wide with shock at the sight of me hanging over Marco’s shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
My cheeks heat in embarrassment.
“Put me down right this instant! F ucking put me down!”
“What the hell is going on here?” Lisa demands.
Marco stops. Then his dark voice fills the room.
“Come on, Lily. Tell her what’s going on.”
I clamp my mouth shut and send Lisa a reassuring look.
“It’s fine…I’m fine.”
She doesn’t look convinced.
“Who is this man, sweetheart? Should I call the police?”
I want to say that he probably has enough money to buy the entire police department, but I keep my mouth shut.
“No, Lisa, I’m fine.”
“Can we leave now?” Marco asks from beneath me.
“Please, put me down. I can walk.”
He doesn’t listen to me.
“You had your chance to do as you were told and you blew it.” To Lisa, he says, friend will not be coming home tonight. Lock your doors.”
“Your

agreement, trying as hard as I can to throw in a smile.
“Yes, Lisa. I’ll be back tomorrow morning.”
There’s no use arguing with Marco in front of Lisa. It would just complicate things.
With one last glance at her shocked expression, I lower my gaze to the ground as Marco carries me out of the apartment.
“We’re out. You can put me down now.”
He doesn’t answer. He holds me suspended over his shoulder through the elevator ride until I am being deposited into the back seat of his sleek Mercedes.
“Good evening. My name is Raymond and I will be your driver for the night.” A man says from the front seat.
I try as hard as I can to make out his hard features in the dark, thankful that neither Tristan nor Samuel are here.
“Hi, I’m Lily. Nice to meet you…and your boss is a brute.”
To my chagrin, Raymond laughs softly.
“You’re a very lucky girl, Lily.”
I’m about to ask him what the hell he means by that when Marco gets into the car and slams his door. My annoyance almost bubbles to the surface and I turn away so I do not have to look at him.
“Where to, boss?” Raymond asks.
“The club. Beverly Hills.” Marco replies curtly.
I pause. Beverly Hills is one of the most expensive parts of New York. Only extremely influential people get to live there, talk more of running businesses.
“Just how much are you worth?” I blurt.
He doesn’t look at me.
“Seven hundred billion dollars as at yesterday. Haven’t checked the stats for today yet.”
Stunned, I remained silent, Jeez, the men is wealthier than I thought. He’s a freaking billionaire.
Suddenly feeling thirsty, I reach for the bottled water in the car’s cup holder and accidentally brush my fingers against Marco’s slack clad legs. Accidentally.

He levels me with a hard look.
“I would advise that you do not touch me in future. Touching me will not lessen your punishments.”
I look at him incredulously.
“That was an accident. I wouldn’t want to touch you if I was paid.”
Marco’s eyes flash.
“You have a mouth on you, little girl. A sharp one. I would very much enjoy watching my clients f uck the hell out of it.”
I freeze and draw back quickly, my cheeks heating at his d*rty words and my equally d*rty imagination.
“Ba sta rd.” I mutter under my breath.
The ride is silent after that. I look out my side of the window, trying not to think about all my problems as we pass through luxurious and more luxurious buildings.
We finally arrive at a gated estate in the heart of Beverly Hills and the car rolls to a stop.
Raymond activates an intercom in the car and says,
“Number Ninety Nine speaking and I am conveying the boss.”
I watch in amazement as the electronic gates roll open immediately, but nothing prepares me for the beauty of the building that lies within.
The house is made of pure, spotless glass. All the lights are on inside, illuminating the luxurious interior. I stare open mouthed at the huge, waterfall-like fountain in the middle of the compound.
From the outside, no one would know this is a strip club. It looks like an extremely luxurious trophy house.
The car rolls to a stop and Marco comes around to open my doors. Just as he stretches his fingers to help me out, his phone rings. He whips out the sleek, black device and I catch sight of the name before he immediately shuts it off and shoves it back in his pocket.
Lauretta.
Was that his wife? Or perhaps another girl he loves to torture? Something close to jealousy burned in my chest and I shut the door on those thoughts immediately.

Marco leads me into the house without a word. We pass through the expensively decorated reception area before climbing into the voice operated elevators.
My nerves jitter and spin as the elevator goes higher and higher. Meanwhile, Marco completely ignores me.
The elevator finally comes to a stop and whooshes open, revealing what I believe is a penthouse / presidential suite.
The place is gorgeous. End of story. The decor is white and gold. Heavy gold draperies cover the floor to ceiling windows. The floors are made of spotless marble and the furnitures look like they were imported from Italy. For a moment, I only stare at all the gleaming luxury in wonder.
“If you’re done staring, the bathroom is that away. You do not have a lot of time so try to make it quick. You will dress downstairs at the club’s dressing room with the other strippers.”
That said, he turns around and walks in the opposite direction.
Thankful that he’s gone, I make my way towards the bathroom. Tiny automatic lights. come up in the dim hallway with every step I take.
Finally at the bathroom, I barely stop myself from just sitting around and staring int
awe.
Okay, whoever designed this place deserves a hundred over hundred.
The glass shower stall can probably fit ten people. The space is made of sleek, black marble. Even the bath tub is black. The entire place exudes class and money. a lot of
money.
I strip completely and quickly climb into the shower. After soaping myself, I’m about to reach for the waterfall shower when I sense movements behind me.
I turn sharply to find Marco completely n*ked asides from tiny Calvin Klein shorts that clearly outline the thick swell of his co ck.
I fumble to cover my sl*ppery b*dy, my eyes widening in shock.
“What your hell are you doing here?!” I shrick.
His eyes are two pools of dripping ice.
