Chapter 28
"You call that an attack? Even Kenzi could have easily avoided this despite her big belly..." Both men were panting like horses after two hours of intensive training.
“I’m not deaf Valk! I heard that!” Valk gave his brother a broad grin, his lower jaws spread wide.
"Look who’s talking, you may have parried my attack, but you sound like an old woman with serious lung problems now." Kyr’nac stood with his claws on his knees like Valk, gasping for air.
Orgrim sat at a distance watching the bickering between the two brothers with a big grin.
Valk and Scars were both excellent warriors and equal in power. They had the same skills, the same physical capabilities that made their daily workouts almost real combat, much to the delight of the women who enjoyed the macho behavior of their husbands.
Sometimes Orgrim joined in sparring, but that never lasted more than fifteen minutes, after that the Orc was completely worn out and most of the time collapsed right on the spot.
"Did you find out if your contact is able to get us another Yautja ship?" From his crouched position, Kyr’nac watched the Orc, which, with the amazing delicacy of its huge hands, was calmly peeling a piece of fruit.
“No, she hadn’t succeeded yet. Apparently security on Yautja Prime has been tightened up, all traders are vetted and all of their merchandise as well. But maybe we’re lucky, she knows one of our old friend’s descendants, and she’s going to try to arrange a meeting with him. It seems that after he was attacked on Earth, he wasn’t treated so nicely by the rulers and enforcers. But, you have to wait a little longer.” He put a piece of the peeled fruit in his mouth.
“That brings me to the next topic...” The juices dripped down his chin as he spoke.
“Your plan to free Valks brethren is not going to work... at least not with the three of us... We need more help. And speaking of help, I know a few guys who might be willing to help, for a fee, of course, but...” And looked at Kyr’nac.
“...is it possible that you ask for help from your stepbrothers? I happen to know the Qas’qiari really hate Yautja,..”
Quickly Orgrim looked at Valk, who just kocked his massive head to the side and shrugged, he wasn’t a big fan of the regular Yautja either...
“...no offense, my friend..., and since most of the men there are still single and have little to do...”
“Why are most of the men from Kyr’nacs home world single?” Kenzi and Iris walked up, arm in arm, and joined the conversation.
"Well, years ago, the Qas’qiari faced huge losses from a seemingly simple virus, resulting in a worldwide epidemic, killing more than 2/3 of the population, mostly women, children and the elderly. Those who got the virus but survived were infertile. Rumor has it that for a few years now they have been kidnapping human women just before they die... Anyway, there won’t be enough women for every man yet..."
He walked up to Iris and burried his face in her hair, tousseling her short hair with his mandibles.
“Stop it! You make me look like an idiot...” Altough Iris tried to sound angry, her grin said other wise.
"Well, I doubt they will help us... especially when they see my face..." Kyr’nac turned to his brother.
"Why’s that?"
"They think I killed their alpha..." Immediately Kyr’nac straighned.
"Why would they think that? Did you...?"
“”No, but I was there when he was killed...From a distance I saw the Alpha being ambushed and well, since I hadn’t been on a hunt in quite some time..." Kyr’ nac felt his muscles tense.
"I can appreciate a well set trap, but this was underhanded, this was a son trying to kill his father, correction..., murdered... I managed to get some of those backstabbing, sneaky dogs, but I couldn’t save the Alpha and since I was standing over him when his pack came... so that’s why they think I killed him." Valk looked attentively at his brother.
"You thought I did kill him, didn’t you?" Kyr’nac nodded.
"I didn’t, I just took down some of those backstabbing dogs, too bad his killer got away, though... They call me a Badblood, but I wouldn’t kill my father... I’m an asshole, as my sweet mate reguarly tells me, and maybe I would kick his ass, but kill my own blood... never..."
"I don’t think you heard a name, did you?"
Kyr’nac sighed, that would be too nice.
"As a matter of fact, I did..., Rann... does that name ring a bell?"
The ground sank beneath him and he looked questioningly at his brother. ”The older Alpha..., Valk, what did he look like?"
Falcon shrugged. ”An older version of that Rann lad, before I even turned on the translator, I suspected they were father and son...during their fight, my suspicions were quickly confirmed..."
His words hit his brother like a bomb, and to everyone’s surprise, Kyr’nac roared with rage.
"PAUK!! PAUK!! PAUK!!"
The two women jumped back, startled.
"I can assume this was one of your stepbrothers?" Valk’s sober remark resulted in a furious look from Kyr’nac.
"Yes. If he looked like Rann, it couldn’t have been none other than Kyrenn." He rubbed his claws over his face.
"All three of their sons resemble one of the fathers, despite being identical triplets."
"Sorry, what do you mean?" Iris stood looking at him in surprise from a distance.
He sighed. ”My stepbrothers, Dargan, Varlan and Kyrenn are identical triplets. Their sons, Kadi, Ivac and Rann too, but although they are identical triplets they differ night and day, the same and yet completely different. Kadi is a copy of Dargan , Ivan looks just like Varlan and Rann... well, you’ve seen those two..."
“Uhhh, you guys... I don’t want to be a party pooper, but I think my waters broke...”
A deathly silence descended on the group, no one said a word and everyone looked at Kenzi with wide, questioning eyes.
“VALK?! Don’t you think it would be convenient to take me to our ship?”
And as if a spell had been broken, everyone suddenly started moving again. Kyr’nac took Iris in his arms and made sure they got to the ship first to get all the equipment ready and on for the delivery.
Outside, Valk took Kenzi very carefully in his arms and walked quietly with her to the ship, closely followed by an imperturbable Orgrim who was eating the last pieces of the fruit.
They had already been warned by the late Dr. Kiss that it would be impossible for Kenzi to give birth naturally. She had therefore ensured that Valk could program the infirmary’s computer in such a way that the medical pod could perform a caesarean section.
Valk an dKyr’nac had tested everything to the limit and knew that essentially nothing could go wrong, but now that the time had come, everyone was scared as hell.
“Wow... They..are..huge!!” Iris whispered and her eyes widened as she looked at the two sleeping babies in the crib Orgrim made for them.
"Huge? You call that huge?" Kyr’nac eyed his little woman in surprise.
"Compared to Yautja pups, they are tiny..." Quickly he looked over to see if Valk or Kenzi haddened heard them, he wasn’t to sure if his brother would appreciate him calling his pups tiny.
The two babies looked like miniature Yautja, at least as far as Iris and Kyr’nac were able to see. Both babies had the tilted skull all Yautja had, only theirs were a little less high than that a full-blooded Yautja baby would have, like their father they also had tiny mandibles and their mouths already contained tiny sharp teeth, but unlike their father they had lips, just like Kenzi. With those little plump lips, the babies made soft smacking noises.
“Awww, they are so sweet...” Kyr’nac rolled his eyes at Iris’ cooing and had to pay for this with an elbow that, because she was so small, almost touched his crotch.
"Don’t let Valk hear you say that!" he warned her gently.
"I bet he already expects them to have their first combat training tomorrow..." Iris chuckled softly. Yup, that was probably indeed the case, knowing Valk.
"Have you heard whatnames they’re going to give the pups?" Despite the fact that he was not curious by nature, he was now curious whether the puppies would be given human names or Yautja names.
“No, Kenzi has been tight-lipped.”
"Yeah, so did Valk."
A longing for a baby of his own was sparked in Iris at the sight of the two contentedly lying in their cribs.
Kyr’nac saw the longing look in her eyes and swallowed, could he...?
"Would you like another pup?" His stomach sank a little when she didn’t react right away.
Iris turned to him and lifted her face so she could face him.
“Maybe..., I don’t know yet. I don’t even know if it’s still possible since they sterilized us, but if I could have another baby, I want you to be the father...”
He gripped her face with his large claws and pressed his forehead against hers.
"I love you..." Iris’ heart swelled upon hearing his words.
“And I love you...”
(For now, Caught and 9.5ft full of scars have reached their end, the first part of both stories. I can hear you think; what’s the gender of the babies and where’s the cliffhanger… Well the cliffhanger will be submitted tomorrow, and the babies… sorry you’ll have to wait for that.😇)
