True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz)

Chapter 2204

Fifteen minutes later.

At the hotel.

When Sylvia before Kendrix at the hotel.

It was not because he drove too slow, but because Claudia had contacted him a little later.

So when Sylvia arrived, Kendrix was not there yet.

The driver brought Sylvia up to the room and made sure Claudia was there before he dared to leave.

Sylvia said to the driver, "Wait for me downstairs. I'll come down in half an hour."

"All right. If you need anything, call me," the driver reminded her.

"All right."

Only then did the driver leave.

Sylvia looked at Claudia.

Claudia's eyes were slightly red and misty.

It seemed that she had been crying.

To be able to make Claudia cry, Sebastian sure was something else. Sylvia thought to herself.

Although Sylvia had not known Claudia for long, she knew enough to know that Claudia would not shed a tear that easily. As far as she knew, Claudia was strong and stubborn. If Claudia cried, it must be over something serious.

Sylvia did not want to beat around the bush, so she asked frankly, "What did Sebastian say? Did he hurt you? Tell me. I'll get back at him for you."

Hearing that, Claudia laughed and shook her head. "I'm gratified and touched by your words, but he didn't do anything wrong."

"He didn't do anything wrong? Then why did you cry? Are you going to tell me something got in your eye? I won't believe you if you say that."

Sylvia's response put a stop to the excuse Claudia was about to give. Claudia sighed. "Couldn't you save me some face?"

"Then tell me the reason you cried."

Claudia pursed her lips. She did not want to let Sylvia know.

Sylvia seemed to realize that there were things she could not force Claudia to say.

Even as a very close friend, she could not cross that line.

She gazed at Claudia, sensing that Claudia was in a dilemma. Claudia looked hesitant, seeming as if there was something she did not want to reveal. Sylvia finally said, "Forget it. If it's too much, I won't force you to tell me."

Claudia was stunned to hear her words. She could not help chuckling. "You're far more open-minded than I thought you were. Thank you for not forcing me." It seemed that something terrible happened. Sylvia thought to herself.

Seeing the bitter smile on Claudia's face, Sylvia could not bear to pressure her for an answer. Therefore, she quickly changed the subject.

"Are you going to stay at the hotel?"

"For the time being. I'll find somewhere else later. I'm planning to rent an apartment. But before that, I'll be staying here."

"You can stay at my place with me," Sylvia offered.

Claudia immediately shook her head. "That's quite all right. It's the holidays, and I don't want to bother you."

"Why are you being so polite to me?" Sylvia asked.

"I'm just telling the truth," said Claudia. "Besides, I'll be living in Northern City in the future. I'll have to depend on myself for many things. Aren't you just treating me like an outsider?" Sylvia protested. She wanted Claudia to go back with her.

"I'm not! Listen to me. First of all, I work nearby, so I should find a place I here to stay. Secondly, I don't know what's the relationship between you and Kendrix now. Although I know that you regard me as a friend, your mother is pregnant. I wouldn't want to trouble her," Claudia explained.

"So, you thought it through, huh?" Sylvia replied. Nonetheless, she still felt like Claudia was treating her like a stranger. The more she thought about it, the more she felt that Sebastian must have said something to hurt Claudia.

She could not help sensing that Claudia seemed dejected.

Was Claudia going to give up on Sebastian? Sylvia wondered.

She had wanted to ask, but after seeing Claudia, she changed her mind.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Claudia said, "Kendrix must be here."

When Claudia mentioned Kendrix's name, Sylvia became even more nervous. He must not have expected her to arrive before him.

Claudia opened the door, still in a trance-like state. As expected, it was Kendrix.

His tall figure stood by the door, frozen to the spot from the shock of seeing Sylvia.

"You came."

That was the first sentence Kendrix said. He did not even greet Claudia.

Claudia smiled meaningfully and said, "Kendrix, why are you speaking to Sylvia when you saw me first?"

He looked down at her and said calmly, "Weren't you the one who didn't return my calls?"

Claudia was taken aback and immediately fell silent.

Sylvia lowered her gaze, avoiding looking at Kendrix.

Kendrix walked straight in and toward her. Seeing that she was averting her gaze, he smiled and said calmly, "Didn't I tell you to go home?"

"I told you. I was worried about Claudia." Sylvia finally raised her head and met his gaze.

Claudia closed the door. Ignoring the awkward atmosphere between them, she said, "You two go ahead and chat. I'm going to use the bathroom." "Since you've checked yourself into a hotel, there's nothing for us to worry about anymore. I'm taking Sylvia home," Kendrix replied.

"What?" Claudia was stunned. "So you two came here to meet up?"

Kendrix ignored her and said to Sylvia, "Let's go. I'll take you home."

"The driver is waiting for me downstairs, Sylvia answered. She felt that he was not paying enough attention to Claudia. Without even asking about Claudia's condition, he was already planning to leave. Was he really Claudia's cousin?

"Mr. Trevino, you'd better stay here. I'll go downstairs by myself," Sylvia said.

Kendrix replied immediately, "There's no need for that. She's fine. I'll take you downstairs."

Ignoring Claudia, he led Sylvia out of the room. Claudia watched as they left, feeling aggrieved.

After they stepped out of Claudia's room, Sylvia said to Kendrix, "Claudia is looking for a place to rent. You're her cousin. Shouldn't you help her?"

"That can wait until tomorrow, right? We won't be able to do anything about it at such a late hour," he retorted.

She fell silent.

Then, she raised her head to look at Kendrix's handsome face and said in a low voice, "Claudia must have gone through something. You should be more concerned about her." Sylvia thought that Kendrix would agree with her. However, he replied, "If I should be concerned about someone, it should be my girlfriend, not my

cousin."
