Chapter 95
BLAKE
I walk into my parent’s room to find my father sitting on the bed staring at my mother while she was on the chair in front of her dressing table, brushing her hair.
As I step closer, my father turns to look at me. He smiles. “Blake,” he says.
I smile back at him.
My father’s face becomes more serious suddenly. “What the hell was Izzy doing? She brought a hybrid onto the pack, and not only that, she smelt like Drake and vampires.”
I look at my father. He thinks he knows everything, but he was always manipulated into doing things because of the Elder over the years. “Well, I spoke to her,” I said, looking between the both of them as my mother turned around to look at me.
“The hybrid came onto the pack lands with his mother; they were running and looking for help as the leader wanted the hybrid,” I say, but sigh. “As for Drake, Anya is his mate. I met her when I went to train their pack, but she was scared for her life. She told me so, but, Dad,” I say as I look straight at my father. “Anya needs to rest, and I will speak to her after training tomorrow to find out what she knows.”
My father looks at me with a stern look, but it was my mother that spoke to me. “I think we all need to get some rest. Blake, Izzy needs...” she says, but my father stops her by shaking his head. “Lauren, can you give Blake and me some time to talk, please?” He says.
My mother looks back at him with a blank expression on her face, but I can tell she is angry at him. I have always known both my parents would talk to me, not just one of them. This has to do with something else.
My mother stands and walks towards the door. Still, she stops by my side, placing her hand on my arm, which she gives a little squeeze. “I will talk to you later,” she says. Still, she looks over her shoulder at my father. “As for you, I am going to get a drink from the kitchen. I won’t be long coming back, and you will not be keeping me out of this room,” she says as she walks out of the room.
Once the door closed behind my mother, I stared at my father, who had a weird expression on his face.
“Blake, we need to talk,” he says and sighs.
“I want to retire as alpha and want to make you the alpha after the upcoming war,” he says and looks at me.
“What?” I said in a shaky voice. “You want me to be alpha, but I thought I needed to learn more and...” I say, but my father stands up and walks to me in two strides, making me stop what I was saying. He places his hands on my arms, and he smiles at me. “Blake, you are ready.”
He stares at me, and I’m stunned. My father always told me it would take a lot to become alpha, and he wanted to teach me everything he knew.
My father takes a step back but, leaving his hands on my arms, he stares at me. “I think both Izzy and you will be perfect, Alpha and Luna. You both are powerful and strong together,” he says, but he drops his arms to the sides of him. His face changes slightly, like sorrow sweeping in like a plague. “I always talked about being strong will make you an alpha that people would remember, make everyone fear you. But what I have learned over the last few weeks since Izzy has been here, power doesn’t have to be what she has. You need heart and also strength to fight on.”
My father turns around, faces the window, and walks over to it. He stands silently for a little while, “I told your mother I wanted to retire, and she has agreed,” he says but sighs, “I was a bad alpha. I should have never listened to Elder Johnson, and I thought I was powerless and weak. I know I was always hard on you, as I knew you could take it.”
I strolled to where my father was standing and stared out at the pack grounds. It was about supper time now, and everyone was leaving to go to their homes.
“You were never weak, Dad,” I say, “But I want to know something.” I turn to look at him, but his eyes are glued to the window.
I sigh. “Why did you listen to Elder Johnson?” I ask. “I mean, they are supposed to give us advice, not try to take over a pack.”
I need to know this, and I need to understand something.
My father casts his eyes down. “Blake, I was a fool,” he says and turns to look at me. “I listened to him because I had a problem. He found out about it, and he made me agree to change some things which were small, but everything changed after Graham met Lucy. Lucy was a gorgeous woman I ever met,” he says. I can’t help but feel slightly weird about that statement. What about mum? But my father notices my expression, and he shakes his head. “I love your mother more than anything in this world, and I would die for her,” he says. Lucy was beautiful and interested in Graham, but Linda used spells to win him over.. It made me realize what my role was and what they did to me.”
I look at him, frowning. “What do you mean? What did you do?” I ask, not knowing what to think.
My father turns around and heads to the bed to sit down. He looks at me. “I was forced to make Graham leave Lucy,” he says suddenly. “I did nothing as I thought he was joking, but Elder Johnson took it out on Alpha Dawson; everything he went through resulted from what I didn’t do for the Elder. Elder Johnson did everything to him, as he wanted me to realize how he uses his power. He has a foot everywhere, and I couldn’t find a way out.”
I can’t help but growl.
Axel is pissed listening to everything, but what he said next made my skin crawl, and I wanted to leave. “I went to see Lucy when I found out Anita was missing. Elder Johnson told me it was all my fault,” he says “I went there. I tried it on with her, telling her she could have an alpha instead of a pathetic wolf-like Graham.”
I saw red. “You told me you loved mum. Why the fuck would you do that for?” I yell.
“Your mother found out the truth and even ignored me for months. I was desperate to get rid of Lucy. I never knew the plan of what the Elder was doing. He made sure everyone was in the dark. I was the pack’s alpha, and I needed to make sure everyone was safe. I needed to protect everyone. I thought I was protecting you.”
I snarl out. “I didn’t need your protection. I would have fought to the end whether or not it killed me,” I said. “You were my hero, but looking at you here now and you telling me all this, you are right, you were weak.”
My father looks at me, shocked, but quickly recovers, and he doesn’t speak.
“You wanted me to mate with Izzy as soon as you found out who she was; why?” I ask.
He says nothing, but something clicks, “You thought she would make us more powerful and take down everyone that done us wrong,” I tell him through gritted teeth.
My father nods. “I thought she would make it possible, but she is one not to be messed with, as we all know,” he says.
“Well, you got your wish, haven’t you?” I say to him with a growl slipping past my mouth.
My father looks at me, expression is unreadable, but he furrows his eyebrows at me. “What are you talking about, Blake?” He asks.
“Well, thanks to that fucking Elder, Izzy wants to kill the vampire and witch alone, without me,” I say.
My father looks back at me, stunned. “Dad,” I say to him as I walk over to him. “Izzy only mated me as I was trying my hardest to make her see I was a true alpha, and it worked, but everyone seems to be out for her,” I say.
“I want to protect the woman I am falling in love with, the daughter who has stolen my heart,” I say to him as a tear escapes my eye. “I want to be alpha more than anything, and I will be making changes here, which an Elder or council member will not like because they will have no say in what I will do. But at the moment, I want to make sure Izzy and Allie are safe.”
My father stands up and wraps me in a hug, which startles me. I was angry at the guy, but I needed to get that out.
My father pulls back and looks at me. “Blake, you are strong, and with the pack, everyone will follow Izzy and you. I will follow you both too, but my son,” he says. “I will protect that little girl with my life throughout this war, you,” he says with a finger to my chest as the other hand rests on my shoulder. “You protect that amazing woman. We will make this all right by the end, and I will apologize to Izzy and even Graham too for my doing in all this, but we will concentrate on the war, once everyone is killed, we will celebrate and have a new Alpha.”
I nod but say nothing.
The door opens, and my mother walks in. She looks at my dad and me. She frowns. “I leave you both for fifteen minutes, and you both are crying,” she says. She closes the door, steps towards the both of us, and watches us. “I guess your father told you everything, his part in all this.”
I nod as I stare at the woman who has protected me. Then something clicks. That’s what Izzy has been doing all her life—well, Allie’s life; she has been protecting her, escaping and leaving her with people she trusts so she can deal and conquer whatever was after her.
“I was angry at him, but I forgive in time,” she says. “Blake, Izzy had to do all this all on her own, but now she has a pack that will fight with her. Finish want was started years ago. As long as Elder Johnson’s head is put on a spike and killed, I will be one happy woman. He killed my friend, best friend.”
“We will back both of you even if I have to stay with Allie. Anita loves that child, too. It seems every person who comes in contact with her wants nothing more than to protect her; she is such a doll,” she says with a warm smile.
I nod.
I don’t want to leave my parents just yet. “Can I stay here with you both for a while?” I asked.
I haven’t been in my parent’s room since I was six, mainly because I had a nightmare about a killer clown.
My parents look at me and smile. “You can, but I will get one omega to clean the spare room for you,” says my mother.
My father looks at me, but he says nothing. Something in his face makes me want to be here with him. I think he needs it more too. It is his salvation for what he did all those years ago.
I forgive him, but I have my head going in a world winds about Allie and Izzy. They are my family, too. I want them both with me, but I will give Izzy time.
As for the hybrid, we will have to see what he is like tomorrow. Maybe he will explain more to us when he wakes up.
For now, I need to be with my parents. I still need to talk to them about everything else that has been going on, too.
