Chapter 89
BLAKE
I can’t help but feel pushed by Izzy.
Why would she want to talk to Drake?
Axel was on edge. He wanted to go back to Izzy; he wanted to make sure she was okay and find out what the hell she was planning.
I look to my side and notice Anya keeping in step with me. She was looking ahead. She is not the Anya I met at Drake’s pack; she looks worn out and pale. She has a weird scent on her, but I can’t pinpoint what the hell it is.
I clear my throat, “Anya,” I say to her. She looks at me with a weak smile. “What happened to you?” I ask her. She turns her head and looks ahead of us. “Michael captured me, but Elder Johnson ordered him to get me for my protection, he said. But after a few weeks, the Elder made me his slave and even tortured me if I never submitted to him, he locked me up and never let me out,” she says, she turns to look at me as a tear escapes as she comes to a complete stop, which makes me stop too.
“Elder Johnson wants power; he destroyed every pack he came in contact with, including Drake’s. He made people agreements with people, which makes them lose what they love most in the world. He would make you sacrifice it to get what he wants,” she says, she looks at the ground. “The vampire that the panther has to kill was nice to me until the sire bond released him from Michael. He made sure that the Elder or Michael did not torment me. I had to feel Drake with other women because he thought I was dead, but I wasn’t. Everything comes at a price. Blake, the vampire, was only nice because he told me he could get me away from that place, and he did, but he isn’t nice; he wants the panther to gain control over the supernatural species as she can manipulate power; from others.”
I stare at her.
She cocks her head to the side, “You and the panther are mates, aren’t you” she asks.
I nod, not saying a word.
She sighs, but she looks at me. “I have to ask if you have mated and marked each other,” she asks.
I snarl, “Why would you ask that?” I ask her with a glare.
Something is off with Anya. I don’t know what.
Anya looks at me, a little startled. “I meant nothing by it, but I know something, but I think I will wait until the panther...” she says. I cut her off. “Izzy, her name is Izzy, not the panther,” I tell her.
She opens but closes her mouth; she looks back down at the ground, “Sorry, I should have asked her name, but I never knew another shifter except for vampires and rogues,” she says.
I look at the girl I once knew, only for a day, but this is not the person I met. She was so outgoing; she was in love, but the person in front of me didn’t even come close to who she was. She looks at me, “I think we should go back, but what are you going to tell the pack members who I am,” she says.
I move towards her. I place my hands on her arms. She looks up at me. “I will tell them who you are, but I will tell everyone to go to the training grounds, but I will have someone to monitor you, just to make sure you are alright,” I say to her.
She gives me a small smile and nods.
We both walk back, and I open a mind link to my father. “Dad, we have a situation. Can you move everyone to the training grounds but keep Kacey, Charley, Allie, Dale, and Lena by the pack house? We have a guest, and you need to be there, so you know what is going on,” I say.
“What are you on about Blake?” He asks, sounding worried, “Where is Izzy?”
I can’t help but sigh, “I will tell you everything when I get there, but can you make sure all the council members are away, for now, even Tilly,” I say.
“Okay, but what are we going to do with the Elder that you put in the cells?” He asks.
Fuck, I forgot about him.
“Keep him there; Izzy and I will talk to him in a few hours, but dad, place a guard outside his cell and make sure no one speaks to him,” I say to him.
I know for a fact the Elder in the cells will be dead, but whose hands is another thing. He tried to take Allie away from the pack.
“No problem, Blake,” he says. I shut down the mind link.
I can feel Anya look at me, but we both walk towards the entrance of the forest in silence, where Izzy and I ran off.
Once we got there, they moved all pack and council members. Everyone I asked to be in front of the pack house was standing there, looking towards Anya and me.
I could hear some growling. I noticed Alice was there, but she held Allie.
Anya gasped and came to a complete stop.
I stop and look at her. “What’s wrong?” I ask her quietly. She stares at something, but when I look to where she is staring too, she is staring right at Allie.
“How the hell does she look like her mother?” She asks, “She is the mirror image of her; how?”
Anya looks at me; her body tenses, but something in her eyes makes me want to protect my daughter from her. I step into her eye line of Allie and look at her with a snarl slipping through my mouth, “Stop staring at her,” I say to her.
Anya takes a step back and shakes slightly, “I didn’t mean to... I was... I,” she says, but someone is standing by the side of me.
I see Lena by my side; she looks at her with Dale standing behind with his arm wrapped around her waist.
Anya looks at her and sniffs the air. “You’re a witch,” she says.
“I’m friends of Izzy’s and the packs; this guy behind me is...” she says, but Anya cuts her off, “He is Elder Johnson’s grandson.”
Dale growls, “I have nothing to do with him,” he says through gritted teeth.
She shakes slightly and looks back at me. “I think this is a bad idea. I should..” she says. Still, I shake my head, “No, I promised we would keep you safe, but I need you to go with Lena. She will get you settled into a room,” I say to her, but I turn to Lena. “This is Anya, she is Drake’s mate, she will stay here with us and...” I say, but suddenly, there was growling coming from behind me.
I look over my shoulder to see everyone else glaring at her.
I turn around and snarl. “Izzy is talking to Drake about something, and when she comes back, she will tell us everything, but he has asked us to watch his mate as he is worried about her safety. He wants her to be safe,” I say; they all look at me like I have lost my mind.
I probably have the way Izzy left me, and I have no way of telling people what’s going on when I have no clue myself.
I look over to Lena, who has now placed her arm around Anya. Lena looks at me. “I will get settled in a room on the second floor, and she can have some food. I think she can wait till Izzy comes back, but she needs to rest,” she says.
I smile at her, “Thank you, Lena,” I say. I look at Dale. “Can you stand outside and keep guard for now?” He looks at me, but I open a mind link to him. “Keep a mind link open to Kacey; she can tell you what I tell everyone.”
He nods but says nothing.
Lena and Dale walk with Anya to the pack house, but I can’t help but notice that Anya was looking at Allie once again.
Allie looks at her, but she turns to me. “Daddy,” she says and climbs out of Alice’s arms and runs straight into mine.
I pick her up as she wraps her arms around my neck and sniffs in my scent. But she moves her head to the front of me, but she stares where Anya and the others left. “That lady lost something special to her; she looks sad,” she says. She places her head on my shoulder.
I turn to the others; my father looks at me confused, “I never knew that Drake had a mate, he kept...” he says, but I shake my head.
“I met her when I went to Drake’s pack at the start. She was nice and lovely, but the woman who stood in front of us, just now, she has been through so much. The Elder held her captive and made Drake think she was dead. He and Michael tortured her. She has suffered, and you can tell,” I say as I look between them all.
I look up to the window; I notice Anya in one room on the second floor, starting at us all.
“She suffered, but she won’t say much, but she will when Izzy comes; I think she knows more than she told Drake,” I said.
I can’t help but shake my head.
I sigh and turn to my father. “Izzy is talking to Drake; she wants answers. I think he may change sides now he has found his mate; they betrayed him.”
My father stares at me for a moment but clears his throat. “Once Izzy is back, we will find out everything that was said; as for Anya,” he says as he looks to where I was staring. “We keep her safe in the room for now, away from everyone, especially the council members. We will hold a meeting later, and both Izzy and you need to deal with that Elder from earlier.”
My father turns to look at me, and his face turns serious. “You didn’t tell Izzy that the elder was going to get Allie, have you?”
“I didn’t have a chance,” I say, shaking my head.
He nods but sighs. “We will carry on training with Kat and Todd down in the training field with the other wolves,” he says, but before he can finish, Allie moves and looks up.
“Mummy,” she screams.
I turn around and spot my mate, who is covered in blood.
I stared back at her in shock, but I soon realized that she was not alone; she was holding a child.
Izzy looks pissed, but there is something else. Puna had blocked Izzy.
What the hell happened?
