Saying Goodbye to My Troubles (Nydia and Mick)

Chapter Saying Goodbye To My Troubles 41

Chapter 41

At the hospital, Mick reviewed a stack of files sent by Royce. His expression was grim, and he had a deep frown.

His phone constantly vibrated as notifications poured in.

He picked it up and saw that all the texts were from Mona. His tense demeanor softened slightly as he casually replied to her. On her "birthday", he'd understood her intentions well as a man.

When she'd first returned to Elipus, he'd been nostalgic about their past. But at that moment, he decided not to take things further.

After hearing about the story of the lady from the mountains at the club, he suddenly felt there was no need to contact Nydia again.

He finally dawned on him that Mona had always been the one who'd liked him, admired him, and supported him from the start. So, he arranged a gift to be made up to Mona and contacted a director to secure her lead role in a new project He couldn't fail Mona when she genuinely loved him and was willing to do anything for his sake.

Mona's recent text was an invitation for him to attend a medical practical contest. She was set to appear as a celebrity guest and would likely take part in the finals.

He replied with a "Sure" and Monna sent a cheerful animated sticker of a character jumping for joy.

His lips curled into a gentle smile looking at the sticker on the screen.

Ted was surrounded by several caregivers. Though it hadn't been smooth, he'd mostly recovered and seemed particularly energetic today.

"Dad, I want to go out and play." He felt ready to be discharged, but the doctor insisted he stay hospitalized. He was so mad.

He wanted to play, and if they wouldn't let him out, he'd make them so frustrated they had to give in!

Mick put down his phone and glanced at him. "I'll take you somewhere, but you have to promise not to run around."

Ted was elated and immediately jumped off the bed. "Yeah! I promise I won't. You're the best, Dad!'

They seemed to have returned to their earlier days when it'd just been the two of them always on the same team.

Mick smiled and ruffled his hair. "Change your clothes. We'll leave right away.

Ted hopped up to the closet, opened it, and froze. "Dad, where are my clothes?"

He was wearing an oversized hospital gown. The last set of clothes they'd bought after he'd wet himself was probably at the dry cleaner's.

The closet was empty.

Mick frowned and realized what the problem was. Whenever Ted had been hospitalized, there had always been four or five sets of clean clothes in the closet of the hospital. Each outfit was thoughtfully prepared and coordinated. When Ted had wet himself, Mick had sent Royce to buy a new set of clothes. He hadn't thought about the need for spares.

Ted turned around and stared at him with big eyes. "Dad, why didn't you prepare any clothes for me?

Whenever he used to open his closet, he'd be greeted with his favorite outfits. Now the

contrast was stark. He started grumbling that Mick clearly didn't know how to take care of him. Mick rubbed his temples. "I'll have Royce buy you a new set."

Ted pouted and unhappily complained, "If the new clothes aren't washed, they make me itchy.

He had no choice when he'd wet himself. Plus, he'd been too sick to protest.

Now, he was unwilling to compromise as tears welled up in his eyes. "I want my blue suit with a bowtie. I don't care...
