Chapter Remarriage You 420

Chapter 420 Stirring Up Trouble Everywhere

Wesley briefly recounted, "On that day, Lenora was in charge of photographing Isla. Who would have thought that Isla's necklace would go missing..."

It wasn't as if he distorted the truth. After all, Lenora wouldn't have resigned without a good reason, so she must have been wronged.

However, he did hide the fact Isla had been deliberately targeting Lenora, instead making it sound as if it was just an ordinary misunderstanding triggered by the loss of her necklace.

"So that's how it is," Jermaine said, leaning casually against the back of his chair, an amused grin on his face. "Wesley, as the studio's boss, you can't just gloss things over like this. It's definitely disheartening for your employees to run into this kind of situation. In this case, you have to step up and protect them. Besides, you're Ezekiel's friend. Even though it wasn't intentional, you've also put Ezekiel in a tough spot with Lenora!"

A friend chuckled and asked, "Does that mean you didn't apologize in the end, Isla? That's not right. How could you not apologize after wronging someone like that?"

Isla retorted with a roll of her eyes, her tone full of righteous indignation, "It's not like I did it on purpose. Who knew she had such a temper, quitting her job just like that! Anyway, she's found a new job now, and that incident was so long ago. Why still bring it up?" That friend didn't say anything else.

Everyone present knew that Isla was the young miss of the Wilson family, and aside from her parents and Zephyr, no one could force her to do anything she didn't want to.

As if her parents and Zephyr would stand up for Lenora.

"Maybe we should just let it go. What's done is done, and there's no use dwelling on it. Thankfully, Lenora has found a new job," one friend suggested. "If things still remain tense, Wesley could always treat her to a meal to smooth things over."

Ezekiel neither agreed to nor denied the suggestion, merely subtly lifting his eyes to glance at Wesley and Isla.

After some thought, Wesley admitted, "I was indeed in the wrong, so I'll go and apologize to Lenora." "Apologize? To whom?"

At that moment, Zephyr pushed the door open and entered, casually asking that question as he returned to his seat. "To Lenora," Ezekiel replied.

"What's going on?"

At the mention of Lenora, Zephyr paused for a moment. He looked at Ezekiel, then turned his gaze toward Wesley.

A friend glanced left and right before repeating the story to Zephyr.

Upon hearing this, Zephyr adjusted his glasses and turned to look at Isla. His expression gradually darkened, his eyes a deep abyss of black.

"Isla, you and Wesley should go apologize to Lenora."

"I'm not going! Who knew she could be so petty!" Isla snapped, then turned her head away huffily.

Then, something occurred to her, and she turned back to look at Zephyr angrily. "Why are you always siding with outsiders!"

Zephyr gave a laugh, his eyes cold as ice. "If you hadn't been stirring up trouble everywhere, why would I side with outsiders? Are you going or not?"

Beneath his glasses, Zephyr narrowed his eyes, staring at her with an aura that radiated intense iciness.

Isla's heart clenched at the sight, a shiver going down her spine.

If Zephyr were to go back and question Annie, he would find out this situation wasn't a misunderstanding but her deliberate doing.

"Come with me, Isla," Wesley urged with a pointed glance.

At this point, rather than deliberately causing a scene that would upset everyone, it was better to step back and apologize for the "misunderstanding." By then, if Lenora were to continue to pursue the matter, others would just see her as narrow-minded. Under Zephyr's icy gaze, Isla gritted her teeth. Reluctantly, she rose to her feet, huffed in frustration, and left the private room without another word.

Even though they were supposed to be her friends, they were all siding with Lenora and pressuring her to apologize!

This is all Lenora's fault!

She's narrow-minded and petty, resigning over such a trivial matter, thereby causing me to be humiliated in front of everyone!

Yet, not long after she resigned, Ezekiel arrived in Fairlake. Judging from how she was not at all surprised by his arrival, she must have known he was coming and had deliberately quit her job!

Isla felt both aggrieved and resentful deep within her heart.

She was determined not to let Lenora have an easy time!

Isla went straight to the private room next door. She stormed up to Lenora, her demeanor aggressive as she snapped, "I'm sorry. Are you satisfied now?"

Lenora stared at her, bewildered.

"Don't play dumb!" Isla sneered, her voice dripping with mockery. "Wasn't it you who had Bella deliberately mention your new job in front of them? Just so you could make me apologize to you?" Lenora knew that Bella had simply wanted to stand up for her. "So what if it's brought up? Isn't it the truth? What, are you afraid of people knowing what you've done?"

Isla gritted her teeth, glaring intensely at Lenora. "You just wait and see!"

As Isla left, Lenora and Bella exchanged a glance.

Lenora wore a baffled expression on her face.

Bella, however, was hit by a sudden realization.

So, it turns out that the woman who falsely accused Fay of stealing the necklace was none other than Isla herself. She really is a fool.

Wesley appeared in the private room and began, "Fay, I'm truly sorry about what happened. I should have had Isla apologize to you. For Ezekiel's sake, I hope you won't take it to heart."

"I accept your apology, Mr. Wesley. You may leave now," Lenora said indifferently.

"All right, you two chat."

Once Wesley left, Bella scoffed, "No sincerity at all. I just realized it was Isla who set you up. She's just as she was before, mean and foolish."

"Was she always like this before?" Lenora asked.

"In the past, she was far worse. She was arrogant and willful, full of self-importance. Her jealousy was intense, and she was narrow-minded. Relying on her own status, she bullied people wherever she went."

If asked about Isla's flaws, Bella could list a whole basketful.

"Back in high school, when the boy she fancied complimented another girl's beauty, she disfigured that girl outside of school out of jealousy. During the school's anniversary talent show, I outperformed her and was chosen for the grand finale dance performance. In retaliation, she planted a nail in my shoe. Luckily, I noticed it in time. Over the recent years, her behavior has been somewhat restrained under her brother's supervision, but she still enjoys stirring up trouble and provoking conflicts wherever she goes. Of course, Bella was not one to back down either and retaliated in kind for what happened at the school's anniversary celebration.

And so, the two of them became adversaries, constantly at odds with each other and turning into bitter rivals.

Whenever the two of them appeared in the same place, it was bound to cause a commotion.

Upon hearing this, Lenora felt a deep sympathy for the girl whose face had been ruined. "Don't her parents care that she's so wicked and impulsive?"

"Her father was too busy with his work, and her mother was in poor health. The servants didn't dare to intervene either, so she grew increasingly bold. It was only when her brother returned that things improved somewhat."

Bella scoffed, her words growing more biting as she added, "But you have nothing to fear from her. You were my friend to begin with, so I would have always had your back. Now that she's the one bullying you, I'll definitely stand up for you even more!" "Thank you, Bella. Have you two known each other for many years?"

"We've known each other since primary school."

From that point on, signs of discord had started to emerge.

Both of them were children of extreme wealth and leading figures in their respective circles, neither willing to bow down to anyone they met.

Isla always craved attention and pampering. Back in high school, when she noticed Bella gaining more popularity than her, she started to feel unsettled. Every now and then, she would throw a jab at Bella.

Suddenly, a phone's ringtone sounded.

Lenora pulled out her phone and glanced at the screen, noting it was an unfamiliar local number.

She answered the call. "All right... Okay... I understand. I'll head over there."

After she had ended the call, Bella asked, "Who is it? What did they want?"

"The call was from the police station. They said there's been a new development in the case of my incident with the sedan."
