Love Comes To Me

Chapter 285: Just Leave Her Alone

Egbert Chumley went there as soon as he learned that Eloise Thompson had been admitted to hospital with an injury and coincidentally met up with Rupert Rogers. Rupert Rogers stopped him.

"Wait."

"Egbert Chumley, isn't it?" Rupert Rogers looked at him with a wry smile.

"What does Rupert Rogers mean by this?" Egbert Chumley locked eyes with him, not a hint of expression on his face.

Rupert Rogers raises an eyebrow and asks him rhetorically in a hangdog manner, "What do you think?"

His brother and sister-in-law had been reunited so easily, how could he let an outsider spoil it for them?

What a bummer!

Egbert Chumley is a smart man, how could he not see what he was thinking?

"I'm Alumni from Eloise."

A simple and clear statement of his relationship with Eloise Thompson.

Alumni?

Rupert Rogers skimmed his lips in disbelief, his sister-in-law was treating him like an Alumni yes, but he didn't simply want to be her Alumni.

Anyone who could potentially threaten his brother, it was his duty as a brother to help take care of it.

"My sister-in-law will just have my brother to keep her company, Mr Egbert please go back."

He deliberately added the word "sister-in-law" with the clear intention of making it clear to Egbert Chumley that there was no hope for him.

Egbert Chumley couldn't help but laugh, "I'm Eloise's Alumni, isn't it normal for me to come and see her when she's injured, why does Rupert Rogers look like he's on the edge of his seat?" "Hey, you're right. I'm just treating you like the enemy." Rupert Rogers hooked his lips and smiled at him.

Egbert Chumley nodded, "OK."

Thinking he was finally going to have the sense to leave, Rupert Rogers made a gesture of invitation, "Please take your time!"

Egbert Chumley gave him a sidelong glance, then spared him and walked briskly towards Eloise Thompson's ward.

Rupert Rogers flinched for a few seconds and by the time he reacted to go after him, he was already at the door of the ward. Well, it's too late!

Egbert Chumley knocked on the door and within moments it opened.

It's Hector Rogers.

The two men stared at each other.

"I came to see Eloise," said Egbert Chumley.

Hector Rogers did not embarrass him, as Rupert Rogers had done, but sidled him into the ward without a word.

"Brother, how can you let him in?"

Rupert Rogers, who had caught up, said hastily.

"The visitor is a guest."

Short and concise.

Rupert Rogers touched his nose and said nothing more.

It was Egbert Chumley's entire face that turned instantly ugly when he saw Eloise Thompson lying in a hospital bed.

His face was as pale as paper, and even his lips had no trace of blood.

If the line on the monitor hadn't been fluctuating, he would have thought she had ...

He regretted it.

He shouldn't have taken her to save any children.

"The doctor said it's nothing serious." Hector Rogers approached.

Egbert Chumley laughed, "Nothing serious?"

The next second, he turned his head and glared angrily at Hector Rogers, "Why is it that when she gets involved with you, nothing good can come of it?"

"She was doing fine at City S. If you hadn't appeared out of nowhere, she wouldn't have known about the kidnapping, she wouldn't have run back to save the baby, and she wouldn't be lying here motionless." "Hector Rogers, what on earth have you drugged her with to make her so reckless that she won't even take her own life!"

Hector Rogers narrowed his eyes, "It's not your turn to say what happens between me and Eloise."

Egbert Chumley snorted, "It's not your turn. But I beg you, let Eloise go. She's a good girl, if you can't give her happiness, let her go."

Let her go?

Hector Rogers clenches his hands for the rest of his life!

"If Mr Egbert is simply here to see Eloise, I welcome it, but if it's to raise an eyebrow, you're not qualified, so please go back!"

Hector Rogers looked at him coldly.

Egbert Chumley looked at him for a moment, then moved away to look at Eloise Thompson.

There was silence in the ward.

Egbert Chumley did not stay long and soon left.

Before leaving, he told Hector Rogers, "Treat her well and don't let her get hurt again."

"I know."

Three simple words that represent commitment.

Egbert Chumley knew that Hector Rogers would do what he said he would do. He glanced back at the man in the hospital bed, his lips curled and he strided away.

...

It was the next day when Eloise Thompson woke up.

During this time, even after the anaesthetic had worn off, she never woke up, scaring Hector Rogers into calling a doctor.

"I think she was too tired and fell asleep."

Too tired?

Hector Rogers was instantly distraught.

She rushed back from City S to save Solomon and it's a wonder she wasn't tired.

It was the first restful sleep Eloise Thompson had had since leaving City J.

Without those disturbing nightmares.

Woke up with a clear head.

As soon as I opened my eyes, a handsome face fell into view.

It's Hector Rogers.

His eyes were closed, as if he was asleep.

She tried to sit up, but it pulled at her wound, causing her to fall back into bed.

"Well!"

Hector Rogers oohed and aahed and opened his eyes, catching a glimpse of her grimacing in pain and rushing up to her, asking with concern, "What's wrong?" She shook her head hastily, "No."

Hector Rogers grimaced, "Eloise."

It obviously hurt so much that sweat was breaking out on his forehead, and he said no.

Why can't she just be honest?

He got angry.

Eloise Thompson fought back the pain and forced a smile, "I'm really fine, I just pulled a cut and it hurts!"

When he finished, he deflated with resignation.

Hector Rogers let out a soft sigh, "Why so careless?"

"Where does it hurt?" He asked.

"It hurts everywhere."

Unconsciously, Eloise Thompson spills the beans.

"Why were you so reckless then if you knew it hurt?" Hector Rogers didn't look at her kindly.

God knows, he was almost scared to death.

Eloise Thompson doesn't know why she was so bold at the time, running with Solomon in her arms when she knew the other man had a gun. Solomon?

By the way, what about Solomon?

Seeing that she and Hector Rogers were the only ones in the ward, she asked, "Where's Solomon? Is he all right?"

"It's fine. He's so well protected by you, how could he be okay?"

At that, Eloise Thompson breathed a sigh of relief, "It's good to be okay."

As long as Solomon is okay, it's okay for her to be hurt a little.

I don't know if he read her mind, but he suddenly said, "Eloise, don't ever put your life on the line again, how useless you make me look."

The fact that he could not even protect his own woman and children made him feel frustrated for the first time in his life ever.

"Oh."

Eloise Thompson bit her lip, "I could have actually escaped with Solomon at the time, who knew someone would come from the other side?" Hearing that, Hector Rogers couldn't help but laugh, "Eloise Thompson, you're not Superman and you're not a hero, you know that?" He was smiling, but the anger behind his smile was still evident.

"I know." Eloise Thompson decided not to say anything, lest she make him angry again.

"Where's Solomon?" Eloise Thompson asked, turning away from the subject.

"Go home."

Eloise Thompson was at a loss for words, and could only be quiet, sneaking glances at him out of the corner of her eye.

It's not right, they've obviously been apart for two months, so how come it feels like they've never been away?
