Chapter 39
"You're the illegitimate son!" Monica interrupted him.
"If you're not an illegitimate daughter, why nobody knows the relationship between you and Mayor Jane?" Roland asked.
"This has nothing to do with you, so don't ask." Monica didn't have the patience to explain this to him.
Roland suddenly remembered something. "Monica, no wonder you know so many inside stories about the bidding. Did Zoe tell you that?"
"Yes." Monica nodded. "Roland, I've already helped you to get what you want. You have to keep the relationship between me and Zoe a secret. You'd better not let the third one know."
"No way!" Roland answered firmly with an evil smile on his face.
"Why?"
"If you want me to keep it a secret, you have to promise me one thing." Roland was insatiable.
Monica had a headache. Roland, the playboy, did not play according to common sense at all. D*mn, he got her. "Promise what? Roland, I warn you not to be insatiable!"
"Monica, it's easy. If you promise to be my girlfriend, I won't say anything."
"Is there anything wrong with your brain?" "No, I'm serious." Roland smiled and said, "I have a big mouth, and I can't keep the news from others. But if you're my girlfriend, it's different. I will protect you and not reveal our family's scandal."
"Do you want me to be your girlfriend because Zoe is the mayor?"
"Of course not." Roland denied. "You are my cup of tea. You know that I'm always immune to beautiful women."
His honest words made Monica's headache even more. This playboy's obsession with beautiful women was beyond the imagination of ordinary people. But if he knew that she was divorced and had children, he would definitely give up on her. So she said, "Roland, I am a divorced woman. Don't you mind that?"
"You divorced?" Roland was really surprised. He looked up and down at Monica with a weird look. "Why did you divorce?"
"This is not a matter of discussion. I only tell you that I am a divorced woman. Can you accept it?"
"No!" Roland was disappointed.
Monica breathed a sigh of relief. She knew that this would be the result. With the pride of Roland and his family background, how could he want a divorced woman?
However, Roland immediately raised another question. "Monica, you didn't make it up on purpose to reject me, did you? I don't believe you are a divorced woman unless you can prove that."
"I'm not just divorced. I have a child. Do you remember the little boy beside Leon, Coco? He is my child."
Roland widened his eyes. He had seen Coco before. At that time, he was very curious about that child. He asked Leon but he didn't say anything. He just said that it was a friend's child, but he didn't expect tha this friend was Monica.
"Monica, I want to know why you divorced."
"He cheated on me!" Monica answered.
"That man is blind!" Roland sighed. How could he cheat on such a good woman? How lucky he was!
"It's all in the past. Roland, please keep it a secret for me. It's not only about Zoe but also about my divorce and my child. Don't tell anyone."
Roland answered sullenly. Today was a good day for him, but why was he not happy?
Compared to the city construction, he would rather have Monica!
What kind of man would be willing to divorce her? When Roland left, he looked at Monica again. Under the dim street lamp, she looked so thin. He did not know why, but he had an impulse to hold her in his
arms.
